One of the greatest scene :mjcry:

When Malcolm X saw these two brothers about to murder him and he was smiling and I wonder why did he smile?

The Bay Area
break it down right quick brother
So I actually found the assignment and it was an analysis of the cinematography of the scene.

One of the most effective camera shots I have ever seen in a movie was in the film Malcolm X. Near the end of the film as he gives his final speech we follow Malcolm X, his family and the men who are sent to assassinate him as they travel to the event. The song A Change is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke plays as the scene progresses. The shot, in particular, begins as he exits the car and as he begins to walk to the building the camera proceeds to focus on his upper torso exposing his face and the world behind him as he’s walking. The world around him is moving as if he's actually moving but he himself is frozen still progressing forward. This hallmark technique of Spike Lee is used effectively show Malcolm X’s state of mind before he goes to this event. He’s almost in a trance like state as he goes through the motions and is lost in his thoughts, it’s almost as if he knows he’s going to die that day. The shot is interrupted by a woman as she recognizes him as encourages him to keep moving forward with his mission the song ends and he smiles. This shot combined with the music instills a lot of feelings in the viewer. I myself still get emotional knowing this is the last walk he’ll take in his life.

Either you die hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain. - Harvey Dent (The Dark Knight)

I feel at that moment, at the least he’ll become a martyr.

The song is so beautiful and it was a great scene. I always get emotional When the brother minister gets shot even though I’ve watched the movie dozens of times.

X is a top three movie.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
Quick question. Malcom X was killed in Washington Heights. To anybody on this forum from Harlem. Was Washington Heights a black area before it became full blown out Dominican or was the aubudon ballroom just a place Malcom X happen to be at?

Spike Lee has a few movies, he is nowhere close to being considered even in the running for GOAT as a film director.
As for the movie, I hate the messiah shyt, he was murdered and he didn't want to die.
He wasn't tired, he wasn't ready to give it up, he was ready to go.
