Yeah its kinda funny when people talk about so and so is the "next Michael Jackson", completely ignoring the fact that MJ was an absolute phenomenon is his time...nobody will ever come close to that level of having the whole world on lock like he did.

When people say the "Next Michael Jackson' they are just trolling their asses off because they know people will fall for it. No one believes with a straight face there will be a "next michael jackson"

Even the people who hate him started every sentence with ........

"Michael Jackson.....the king of pop"

ALL those people came to see ONE MAN...:wow:

He will forever will be the G.O.A.T. :mj:

I'm pretty sure Jesus never attracted any crowds like that in his lifetime bro

So it's pretty safe to say that...

MJ >>>> Jesus

I remember when ever they would premiere an MJ video it was like an event.

that's what I remember

I remember they would play the long version of the Thriller video every night at midnight on MTV, and I would beg my mom to let me stay up

I was a little kid when Thriller premiered. My conservative ass town got MTV that very day. I still have the Bad video premier and all the lead up on VHS. Lots of news shows having a dedicated episode for him and lots of specials showing his career. Then that long version of the video with Wesley Snipes on there. Man that was truly epic.

makes me think how much everyone took this mans brilliance for granted when the scandals were going on round this period and didnt realize how lucky they were to be in attendence

u will never see a sumthin ike this again at a awards show - vocally or performance wise

I was young but still remember when he performed a full version of dirty diana with many of the bad tracks..but this one stood out..man in the mirror was the joint having females dropped to their knees, my uncle had to play superman that night and help plenty of teenagers back on to their feet. Oh shyt, when Thriller came on..the intro was sick..had my young tua ass holding onto my sister's leg!

The drive back home was pretty surreal..i was fading away and sleeping and waking up, felt like a dream. It was hard explaining to my friends at school what it was like.
dangerous tour was another mesmerising concet..Jacko springing up from the platform and not moving one bit, many thought it was a dummy but when he movedone part of his side the place nearly collapsed from the excitement.

You will never ever get a concert show like that again..

 :salute:

I saw prince @ diamonds and pearls and few others after..plus madonna few times..but MJ is the greatest entertainer ever.

79' Off The Wall - 20 Million Worldwide (4 Top 10 singles, 2 Top 5 singles, 2 #1 's)
82' Thriller - 100 Million Worldwide (7 Top 10 Singles, 5 Top 5 singles, 2 #1 's)
87' Bad - 45 Million Worldwide (6 Top 10 singles, 5 Top 5 singles, 5 #1 's)

165 Million Albums Sold 9 #1 singles in less than a decade. There's a reason MJ was KING of the 80's. Michael was Neo of the Matrix. He was literally the one. Someone was right, only Jesus or Mother Teresa were as known around the world as Michael Jackson. "HIStory" is still the highest selling Double LP ever and "Invincible" was called a flop but it sold 10 Million Worldwide. LOL @ MJJ's Flops still going Diamond. What's weird is "Thriller" did not go #1 on the charts which was a shock to me cause of how huge it was. It actually topped out at #4 on the Hot 100 but it did go #1 on the Dance charts.

in many ways he was the right person at the right time. the 80's was pretty much the high point for 'pop music', and Mike was the King of Pop

"Thriller" was a moment in history where one album literally connected with everyone in the world. They said something like 1 and every 10 people have heard or own Thriller in the world. That's insane. "Thriller" is to music what the Bible is to books, that's how many people owned it. But "Bad" still did over 40 Million Worldwide which is still a lot of damn records. It had more #1 hits but "Thriller" was just unique. Here are the Top 5 Selling LP's ever:

#1 . Michael Jackson - Thriller - 110 Million
#2 . AC/DC - Back in Black - 50 Million
#3 . Pink Floyd - The Wall - 50 Million
#4 . Whitney Houston - The Bodyguard - 45 Million
#5 . Michael Jackson - Bad - 45 Million

So It dropped 60% in sales from "Thriller", he still put up Top 5 Numbers all time on the follow up so I think he succeeded anyway. But don't get it twisted, Bad was still huge. The "BAD" tour was bigger than his Tours during the Thriller Era. Bad Michael was the Apex of his popularity, he basically was the undisputed King by the time the Bad Era ended. It was not debatable who the King of the 80's was.

Don't sleep on

DANGEROUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS :ohlawd:

that album had some hits and went diamond also

:mj:

"Dangerous" 25th Anniversary is in 2016, hope they do a documentary with Teddy Reily about that LP. That album sold 30 Million Worldwide. Sadly "Dangerous" didn't have as many hits as "Off the wall, Thriller or Bad" which is why I say it's his weakest Classic. But it still had some serious hits. Crazy MJ released 9 singles from "Dangerous". 4 Top 10 hits, 2 hit the Top 5 but he only got one #1 single off that album which was "Black or White". "Remember the Time" got close but tapped out at #3 . "In the closet" #6 and "Will you Be there" #7 . "Dangerous" have a few average songs but it was still a Classic, some great music on that LP. But even though Teddy did a great job, Something was missing without Quincy.

I remember when they premiered the video to Micheal Jackson and Eddie Murphy's video "Whats up with you" they showed it on fox right after the Simpson's went off. That has never been done before. A major network that was not affiliated with music at all premiering a video without it being on something like entertainment tonight. That will never be done again. You won't ever be able to find another MJ.
