with all due respect and i'm just sayin' this from my perspective but i feel like the west coast just died after that

once pac died, that was it

snoop came down south
suge was locked up
dre had already left the house and thought he formed aftermath, he didn't seem like he was really lookin' for new west coast talent because he kept workin' with some of the same ol nikkas he'd been cool from the west

there was no one else out there to really uphold it with the majors

quik was there and lord knows he kept comin' with great music but profile was shyttin' on him and he hand his hands tied with so much shyt

so it was kind of just like the dust settled :mjcry:

and you know, even though shyt had changed when suge came home, i fee like he still could've have a second comin' with death row

now, it was NEVER gon be what it was before in it's hey day, but i felt like suge could've really bought back some great music if he wouldn't have been wastin' his time with promotin' fake 2pacs (the realest) and snoops (top dogg)

suge should have been scoutin' around the streets of watts, compton, inglewood for talent and lookin' for new rappers and producers for the new shyt of the 2000s

but instead he was comfortable just livin' off of old shyt he had in vaults and just makin' fun of dre and snoop :francis:

I thought this was an article for spin magazine. :wow:

I hope you realize sick wid it was making bank, e-40 had the best distribution deal in hip hop. That label counts as west coast success. You can't dismiss them, Otis. What e 40 did is incredible. They are a SUCCESS

What you are missing is the big picture, the numbers you are talking about , they don't need to sell as many numbers if you budget right. This is the biggest horseshyt sold to the public.

So dig this:
The most successful labels can be doing horrible because of over billing. You are missing the finer points when it comes to what made a successful label.

A successful label, you don't need platinum or gold. In the nineties you could be a successful label with just 2 or 3 artists selling 20k to 100k. Solo artists were more flexible than groups.

The numbers that you are reaching for are delusional. Most Indy rap labels in the west coast did well. it was birthed out of the business blueprint of soul/R&b labels like solar & macola.

Another person besides e40 is, JT the Bigga figga with get low records. He understood how to be successful without having to have radio or music television support.

Why do you think so many full length albums came out? They made a lot of money, Otis. Some of the biggest untold successful labels came from West.

Your list really needs to be reassessed. You are missing a bunch of labels.:leostare:

The sad reality is that when you look at Westcoast Hip-Hop, Pac was the only true person of his kind in terms of the dynamic personality and work ethic that he had.

Dre, Snoop, and Cube became icons but none of them had Pac's fire or charisma. How the West has remained dormant for so long under their watch baffles me. There's no way Pac (or Eazy for that matter) would have allowed a whole coast to lose its relevance and respect in the game in less than one year.

and i know suge had signed crooked i and swoop g and that valetine nikka who was a singer but he won't even tryin' to hone their talent

crooked i was a battle rapper but he needed a produced who could help him use his talent and find ways of writin' and producin' an album worth of songs

a nikka can have all the talent in the world but if he ain't got no coach to really help him know how to use it, it's hard for him to showcase that talent
