SPIN: Do you use a 1-10 scale on things you play/watch when talking with your friends?

Numbers?

  • Nah, I just say if I like it or not and give a detailed breakdown

  • Yeah, I spit out numbers like a computer.

If you watched a movie or played a game and your friends ask you how do you feel? Do you break it down and say..."Yeah breh, its tight...I give it a 7.6 out of 10" or do you just say that you like it or don't?

I want to see if what I studied is out of date, I cannot possibly see people giving numbers to shyt like this in person.

Never have I used numbers or have I heard numbers used to describe things in everyday life in relation to it's quality.

I swear this type of language is only seen online and in very technical matters.

I'm 25 years old, turning 26 this year and I NEVER heard a number attached to the quality of something in any matter of my life. Hell, my folks haitian and the thought of thinking about a conversation having numbers added to it to describe stuff would be hilarious.

when a new movie comes out i go straight to rotten tomatoes to check the ratings.... when a new videogame comes out i go to various sites or metacritic to check the ratings...

i dont go to my friends for qualitative analysis of those type of things... i feel you've framed this question to get the response you want.

No, it's framed to get people to think about how stupid the current way we rate things online are. A simple like/dislike scale is all we need to go along with a detailed review.

I dont agree, number ratings simplify the process... it really is preference based though....

what "great" movie ever got universally poor ratings from critics... rotten tomatoes does a good job of letting me what to expect of the movies that im considering watching...

Im not going to watch a french subtitled movie regardless, so even if it gets 90% on rotten tomatoes it doesnt effect my usage of the site.

Rotten tomatoes is a bad example. The rating system is based on if people like it or not from what I remember. Not the average review score if I remember correctly.

Metacritic is the one that has it wrong.
