OK. I can see where you're coming from.

It's not that way in the West. Most Western women with options wouldn't take a man who still lives at home past 25 seriously.

I am American and I have dated a guy who lived at home with his parents at 31.... He had a career, no kids, his own car..... He was the breadwinner in his household and was supporting his fam..... I have my own place so we did our business at my place .... it was NBD.....

But to your thread question, too old is whenever the child is ready for the world.... each person is different...I knew that there is "1 queen to a throne" I respected that my mother built her queendom with my dad in their house..... At 17 I moved to a different state and built my own throne..... I haven't looked back since....

But my younger sister (who just got married)...moved out at 26.... I don't knock folks for staying at home.... everyone is different...

Same pressures for when to leave home comes from the same pressures about if/when to get married or having a kid
If you can't save money while paying for rent/utilities, then you will be struggling for the rest of your life

At some point the roles got reversed. I stopped living with my parents and they started living with me. I mean I was paying all the bills, etc. Plus I figured with that situation I'll always have someone to babysit the kids and keep the house busy to prevent burglaries

I know we're in a tough economy, brehs and brehettes.

But, honest question: how old is too old to be living at home?

Could you date a man or woman who still lives under the same roof with their parents and siblings?

Why is a man living at home unacceptable and creepy, whereas a woman living at home is acceptable?

Speak on it.

Do what you have to do. The job market sucks :obama: Save money by all means necessary. All that other glory stuff is for the birds. If you can endure living with your parents and to save and buy a house do it. Most single people who live on their own work 5-6 days a week to keep it :sadcam: Its no joke brehs, don't make the same mistake as me :to:

I'd say a person should still expect a parents help until about 26

That's not to say they should be living with them, but gone are the days when a person can just get a job and make a living at 18. It takes a lot longer to get established these days and the cost of living is crazy, so parents should expect to support their kids until their mid twenties. Hopefully during that time the kid would be going to school and establishing himself for a good future.

I left at 19

I think 30-35 you def should have a plan. But there are folks who live like that to succeed. See Mexicans and Asians. They may be 6 families deep in a home.

I think past 40 at that point u rly should be on your own if ur 40 and still living with ur family then it's time to dip outta there. I'm 26 and i will be finishing university I am currently working full time so that I can save my plan is to move out next year I think in your twenties and thirties it's reasonable especially if your in school but if your not in school or never were I think you should start making movements to move. My bf is 31 and still lives with his parents I don't see any fault in that... The economy isn't great and when jobs aren't even guaranteed till retirement it's scary working not knowing what the future has in store for u finacially

I moved out permanently after I finished college at age 23.

however, there's a :bryan: lady that works with my wife who just got married a couple weeks ago, and she's lived with her mom the entire time. she like 32 or so and she still got her momma cooking, cleaning and washing her clothes while living rent free.

then when she got married, her new husband moved from his apartment into her moms basement :mindblown:

she gotta have some bread stacked since she been living pretty much bill free since entering the workforce some 10 years ago.

You just answered your question. In this economy you really can't speak ill about someone moving home, I can understand. Could I date a chick at home with her parents and siblings? I could, depends in the circumstances. Like I said above, the economy is not all that healthy. Now I got uncles who were worthless who stayed home until they couldn't anymore. They exceeded their stay by about 30 years. Them niccas wasn't shyt.

I'm 29 and live at home although my parents are only here 6 months out of the year. I contribute to the mortgage, hydro, property taxes etc.

It's all "perception" that if you live at home your somehow rotting in your parents basement not paying bills or handling responsibility just playing videogames all day long.

It's amazing you can live at home and pay 1,000 a month for bills building equity and be viewed in a negative limelight but you can rent some little studio for 1000 a month and be considered responsible.

Hell if I never get married the hell I'm going to move out for ?

You finally admitted to living at home :ehh:

Yes I would because african culture does not have the stigma that it does within black american culture.

As long as he is working has a presumably a career or on the path to one but chooses to stay at home until he marries which is usually what happens, I have no problem with it
.

I smell bullshyt here with this comment.
