Yea it can easily be done. The talent is there. The money is there but we haven't put it all together yet.
Even the small production stuff like plays is out there. The only problem with black writers and I can't really fault them so I'll say black consumers is they only buy religious god based stuff so writers mainly write religious god based stuff. Id like to see more stories about other things than religious based or hood based movies. But hey I'm not about to write a film so I can't really criticize too much.

I've got a DSLR.

My plan with this first film is to write the next draft and then put together a kickstarter and solicit donations from some connects I have. Pre production is critical so that the production can run smooth as possible.

Where you at? Hmu if you need a cheap videographer. I got you on the lowlow

Subs.

Tyler Perry fo4 as much criticism has come his way probably made the biggesr move out of all of his peers and contemporaries last year by purchasing that studio.

The future of black cinema is coming sooner than you think.

Its obvious with the success of tv shows like power and empire and with straight outta of compton that black people are probably the most starved and willing to spend money on movies that represent them. Really if you think about it we're hollywood's secret weapon.

No matter what...if there is a black lead in a movie it will be talked about. And garner publicity because of it.

Seriously though....you cannot tell me a walking dead type movie with two brehs as the main characters would not be hot. And black folks wouldnt go out and see it in droves.

I want to see movies where black people are the heroes and saving everyone else. Like if white people can have hobo with a shotgun and mexicans can have machete, why cant we have the same?

I got Lionsgate execs talking to me and saying the industry needs more black filmmakers. They are interested in distributing one of my movies. My only problem is I haven't made one yet, they were interested off the script and idea alone.
I can't sit down long enough to write

I'm an aspiring screenwriter/director but as of now I'm working on a business model so I won't have to wait on Hollywood to give me a job
I was an aspiring screenwriter back in school but the industry is too damn shady when it comes to spec scripts. I wish you all the best though.

I am a huge advocate for independent. Hollywood is a big machine that will only let one token in at a time. Start your own shyt. Real talk, someone told me if you put out a movie and it's pure absolute shyt, the worst thing ever YOU STILL DID BETTER THAN 90% of your competition cause most people who want to make films will NEVER MAKE THEM.

Manos: The Hands of Fate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Check Manos: The Hands of Fate, regarded as one of the worst movies ever made. Created by a fertilizer salesman on a bet his friend made who said he could not complete a movie. As trashy and horrible as this movie is, it's still better than anything anybody in this thread as made simply for the fact it exist.

True. But i think the point pf this thread is to make black films that have the same commercial distribution in theatres as others.

It's different for someone who's solely a screenwriter, hollywood would buy your shyt just to give the idea to someone else. That's how they gobble up most spec scripts.

If dude's gonna write and direct his own shyt, :salute: I just like to write, never had an interest for being behind the camera.
