benoit was a lateral move.

outside of the rumble/mania moments - which came 4 years later, the wwf didnt do anything with him that wcw didnt do.

But it was still a good career move tho'... I think he would've been pushed regardless had he still been in WCW when Vince purchased it, but it was better for him that he made the move a year earlier. Could you imagine him in WCW in 2000, droppin' matches to Jarrett and possibly bein' involved in that Arquette bullshyt, or that Russo madness? Or being part of the Invasion in '01, and being punked all thru it as part of the Alliance? Nah breh, that 2000 move was for the best.

i dont think wcw wouldve had him involved in any of that, except maybe droppin matches to jarrett.

this really just reads like 'he avoided getting jobbed out during the invasion angle'.
but he wouldve avoided that regardless, had he re-signed with wcw and had a time warner contract to sit on.

He did better by not stickin' around to find out tho'.

Here's the scenario: If I'm Benoit in 2000, there ain't enough trust in the world to think Sullivan, Russo, or Bischoff woulda done right by me. I've also been here for 5 years and seen my fair share of bullshyt to the point I'm fed up... they have opened the door and said whoever would like to go can go. The other company is at the height of their success and is well worth the risk of making the move to... the decision ain't that tough :manny:

Hall and Nash had some of the smartest career moves in history. Nash dumping Vinnie Vegas and those other :trash: gimmicks in favor of moving to the WWF and working with Michaels and eventually becoming champ, before jumping back to WCW and helping found the nWo. Even if his TNA run was whatever, it was good money with the upside of no travel unlike the WWE. Even going back a few years ago, him leaving TNA and coming back to the E was smart, especially with HHH slowly moving towards running the place.

Hall's moves were smart too but his demons fukked it up.

THIS.

people act like the wwf saved austin from wcw, when in reality, the low-point of his career was the wwf ringmaster chit.

then he went back to what he was doing in ecw, and jackin some of the sandman's schtick while at it.

You're such a bitter little b*stard, Wacky :mjlol:

@Wacky D loves to make wack shyt look better, and better shyt look wack...

Granted, that Ringmaster shyt was trash. But because Austin himself was creative and didn't just allow himself to be stuck with whatever he was given, he created his career-making gimmick while in WWF.

But I guess "Superstar" Steve Austin was better... :mjlol:

Derrick Bateman aka ec3 going to tna. He went from being a nobody who didn't even make it on the main roster in the wwe to being the man in tna.:blessed:

i agree. i have an even harder time watching Benoit matches especially when he does the flying headbutt...ive seen people do that move and not look like they were hurt but i swear every time he did that move he looked like he was in a lot of pain. you know his brain/spine went through a lot.

Wow :russ:, people take that oversell shyt WAYYY to seriously. Maybe Benoit was one of those crazy White people that beat his head against the wall. That headbutt, first of all, isn't even hitting a bone part of the body. He hits the person's shoulder or neck, that has padding. I dare someone to show me where he's actually connecting with their head.

Second, it's not like he's catapulting himself into the person. He is barely jumping, with no head movement into the attack. He just over sells head on head. Damn, people will believe anything. He likely had some prior head abuse that caused his brain to seem so old and like and. He was not a public dude, so who knows what he used to do on his off period.

:camby:

So his brain looked like mush from outside of the ring not wrestling? :upsetfavre:

So he never had any head or neck trauma from jumping off the top rope head first at people? :usure:

I know he sells the move breh..I know that he's not legit headbutting these guys...but the margin of error is very small and he was definitely taking head/neck trauma each time he did the move. I know its not the sole reason he had any issues with his head, but you cant deny it didnt take away years from his career/life.

I think he took a lot of shots to the head and the headbutt can obviously cause neck trauma, but it's ridiculous to say he suffered head injuries from that weak ass move. It's not legit.

I do think he's suffered injuries from wrestling, and I'm sorry that my comment didn't include that. He wrestled in the blood and unprotected chairshot days, and his style and attitude is fearless.

Yes, that really messed him up. But I'm not going to say that was the only contribution here, as he has proven to be and unstable person. Unfair to put that all on wrestling, when a lot of people in his Era have been fine. Not all, mind you, but way more than the majority.
