this dude opened the door for an entire generation of swaggots, rappin about nothing. early 2000s kanye was a top 5 producer ever and even his beatmakin fell off as he started to 'experiment' and drop bullshyt music

and if you disagree then what did he bring to the table on the mic? like imagine if his first couple albums were chronic 2001 style with dres producer/rappin balance :noah:

I wouldn't mind his verses if he had more guests on his albums, kind of like what Dre did with The Chronic and 2001. That's not to say his albums aren't great achievements, but his ego holds him back from making that true pop masterpiece. Maybe now that he has a group of emcees that can hold their own as primary guests, he can funnel his production talents through Pusha and create an ungodly masterpiece, but I think his ego still plays a big part in his music. You're just going to have to settle with his verses.

Without Kanye starting to rap we would not have one of the best performers in hip hop. 90% of rappers' live shows suck compared to other genres. Kanye is that dude

This gotta be a troll thread. Kanye has more content in his lyrics than someone like Dre ever did. Dre on 2001 was rapping about fukking bytches and smoking weed. Kanye on his first album was rapping about Jesus, his self conscious image, his accident, the education system, the difficulty in getting signed, etc. You didn't think this through.

This gotta be a troll thread though right? If anything he's the one who brought meaningful lyrics back to mainstream hip hop.

I can't ride with this. Kanye has made some classic joints. I'm cool with him rapping. Yes, his personality and ego has gotten him into trouble but you can't deny his body of work in anything.

Youre acting like Kanye wasnt rapping about anything in CD and LR, he talks about shyt in every album matter of fact :wtf: are you talking about? Kanye is a bipolar artist. He has that stupid swag I'm better than you rap, and he has that emo this is somehting happening in my life rap. We're gonna sit here and act like 808s was about absolutely nothing? OK.

Be honest, were you even listening to music when Kanye came out? Meaningful content on a mainstream level was practically dead before then. He did the opposite of what you're saying.

Kanye is indirectly responsible for this shyt and I have always thought it. Still doesn't change the fact that College Dropout was a great album and Late Registration was a damn master piece. However, if he had been the musical force(producer and composer) behind these movements instead of the 'face" and performer of it I think it would have not ushered in this current lane we are in.
