Kamikaze might possibly be the best effort Eminem could make at this point. He redeemed himself after Revival, but there are way too many things keeping him from being a good artist anymore.
Jay Electronica played everyone. He wanted you to think he was coming to bring hip hop back, and then when he got what he wanted out of the game, he left with all his money and now he laughs at the people waiting for a day that will never come.
J. Cole is not an album artist and never has been.
The role DJs used to play in hip hop has long been extinct.
Artists like Public Enemy and prime Ice Cube couldn't even dream of getting a seat at the table in 2018.
We've seen the height of what hip hop can do artistically. The lack of emphasis on skills and the chokehold that corporations have on it will keep the genre stagnant for years to come. There are no saviors, no guiding lights, no new rappers coming in to fix the game. It's done.

Black Power themed songs and albums are almost forgotten in music history. Its like people are doing their best to erase Public Enemy, De La Soul, ATCQ, and even early Ice Cube.

This one hurts. As much as I like Cole and Kendrick. They're deeper than the average modern rapper but overrated as "lyricists".Tetsuo & Youth and Drogas WAVE won't truly be appreciated until Lupe dies

Not really a harsh or difficult concept for me now but recognizing that hip-hop is old enough to have different generations and subgenres of itself and that I don't have to like all of them, nor do I have to spend time hating on them either.

I used to listen to nikkas like Souljaboy and Hopsin as a kid
