I'm trying to figure out what more could shaq have done that would have amounted as a significant difference between 96 when the bulls swept them, vs 2000 shaq? He avg 30 in 96, what he was going to avg 40? Was he going to knock down free throws, dominate the glass more? The bulls figured shaq out and kobe wasn't the superstar yet. In 2000 lakers were still clearly shaqs team. And mind you in 96 pippen was clearly the 2nd best player in the league and in some guys mind even better than jordan.

Outside of that, 96 bulls were a better defensive team had a better supporting class including a hof power forward who led the league in rebounding and a reigning 3pt specialist Steve Kerr and 6th man of the year Toni kukoc . And let's just be real, jordan and pippen causing more issues for kobe then him, fisher fox Horry or whoever will cause to Mike and scottie. Cmon son.

Wholeheartedly agree with everything but the bolded (:whoa:).

People like to act like Shaq turned some mystical corner in 2000 and was doing things far beyond what he did before. When in reality experienced, talented, strong-willed teams like the Bulls or the Jazz or Rockets were either gone or flabby. He was still the same guy he'd always for the most part and instead of going against the type of tough squads that had always managed to not only endure his dominance but sweep him and his talented teammates off the floor he was running through a bunch of flabby, injured, soft, or bereft of talent squads. Cats watched him beast in the worst era ever for the Center position or talent in general and now try to act like the 90's didn't happen or cop every plea in the book for it.

That's some bs...shaqs skill set under Phil skyrocketed and he got way better in 99

Was he better under Phil? Yes. Was the difference as massive as some try to claim? Absolutely not. If B. Shaw doesn't hit those shots or the Blazers don't straight up choke his entire career is viewed in a different light.

this..instead of going against prime hakeem, ewing, robinson, mourning.. he was going against 34 yr old rik smits in his final season, supposedly 34 year old mutumbo and todd macculloch:heh:

I can't say pippen was 2nd best in 96.

1. Jordan
2. Shaq
3-7 a combination of pippen, penny, grant, and GP.

Yup, dudes really underrate Rodman.
Word to everything, he showed me he was a Hall of Famer when he did that. I said "I am watching a hall of fame player."

Shaq could NOT MOVE RODMAN.

Niqqa...we talking about PRIME SHAQ who I saw move Hakeem back.

:wow:

Dennis was lower and had the advantage in leverage. He guarded so many guys bigger than him he championed the style ben wallace and others alike used against big foes.

Ben did a decent job on shaq in 04 even though he put up 26-12 on 60% shooting.
