Dogs fight to the death and it doesnt matter the size, dogs are considered "fight" animals where horses are considered "flight" animals.

When we were growing up on numerous occasions we've seen pit bulls get loose and handled with a Louisville Slugger. The bat broke in half the dog shytted on itself AND was STILL attacking. Only way the pit stopped was after it was shot.
