In my heart I just can't do it.. I just can't let my first child go.. My first seed with birth defects is hard as a man to let go. If I look at my child and I believe in my heart he or she can still beat the odds and be successful in life, I'll do everything in my power to make it happen even if the mother is not with it, I'll raise my child on my own.

I just can't let my first child go. It'll hunt mi forever. I'm speaking for myself..... I just can't let my first child go.. My child is apart of mi so I'll fight for my child..:mjcry:

:mjcry:... Honestly....

I would just pray that the Lord would grant me wisdom and strength in a situation like that....

I have a classmate who got pregnant at 16 with a severely disabled child and we are in our 30s now...

The little girl is wheel chair bound and intellectually challenged... The little girl needs 24 hour supervision for life....

I ... :wow:... Don't think I am built for that :hamster:

Fantasy.
I don't believe in abortions for myself, but i really can't say how i would deal with this. Especially if its a situation where my child would suffer or be in pain because of their disability.
Me and the father would have to really think long and hard about it. I really just don't know.

It would depend on what it was. I couldn't bring a child into the world that would suffer and not have a quality of life. It wouldn't be about the having a perfect child it would be about if they could live a happy life. Some defects you can.

My friends brother had severe cerebal palsy. He didn't develop fully (mentally or physically), he couldn't talk, he was in a wheel chair or the bed, he only ate/drank like ensure type formula, he couldn't do anything or anything for himself. I wouldn't do that to a child.

My child wouldn't have fetal alcohol syndrome tho :dahell: you can control that.

To be honest, I would get an abortion. I know that people are going to look at me like :wtf: :scusthov: :scust:. A lot of people in my family work in the medical industry, I used to be a member of a club called the best buddies club, and I am constantly around children and young adults with mental disabilities. I would get an abortion IF it is a severe mental disability. Who will take care of my baby when my husband (the father) and I are no longer here? Nobody watches over your child like you do. If it is something severe to the point where their mind is forever that of a 2 year old it is just not right for them to suffer in a world like this. If it is severe to the point where they do not even know that they exist it is just not right. Too many people will take advantage of them. As a person who plans on working with disabled children I see it a lot myself. A lot of people with mental disabilities get raped, molested, abused, and etc. I know it can happen to anyone but they are an easy target. It is like they are just existing just to exist. I could not do that to my child.
At the same time I feel like if I were to get an abortion it would bother me for the rest of my life. I would always think about what the baby would look like and what the personality would be.

Abort, Life is already full of stress and harsh realities I can't place them into a already fukked up situation with a illness they didn't ask for and a life they had no say in.

I know the two sides of this coin I knew a girl at my uni who was paraplegic, besides her legs she functioned normally and was independent, than I knew a little kid I met when I interned at my old elementary school, he was wheelchair bound couldn't speak and whenever he would try to draw his hands would shake and he would drop the crayons, when I tried to help him he wouldn't let me he wanted to do it on his own. Imagine wanting to be independent but your body won't give you that option and you have to live like that until you die, unable to speak or even control your actions. He couldn't even draw the picture he wanted something to simple but life refused him this basic pleasure:mjcry:

And the other kids didn't understand and making jokes saying why we gotta stand for the pledge of allegiance but Danny get to sit, They we're young so it makes sense they didn't understand the seriousness situation but I hoped he couldn't/didn't hear that.

Exactly.....I want to pass away before my kids do. I would always wonder who will take care of my child in this cruel world. Nobody can love your child like you can.
