The issue is that the old boys network has leverage and can use their relationships to get strings pulled and forcing some talent they want to sign a fukked up deal on some get down or lay down shyt.

The lick should be for the young up and coming youtubers to sign their own direct sponsorships totally separate from youtube and possibly flip the money into other offline businesses. From there slowly migrate off youtube or at minimum have their own website platform alongside of it.

Petty Vandross.. fukk Yall
I honestly think same thing that happened to him is currently happening to those Dormtainment brothas.

They started around the same time, 2008-09, constantly cranking out videos and building a base. They were both passed by the Vine generation of stars (King Bach, DC Young Fly... etc etc), but still managed to work a deal with All Def Digital. Moved out to L.A., then bam... they go radio silent.

I believe DT is signed with Kevin Hart's company now, and they still do weekly podcasts but their videos came to an absolute halt.
One of they mans getting caught up in a domestic situation didn’t the help cause either..

A lot of these YouTubers/Instagram "entertainers" don't make it because they have to step out of that control shell. You see a lot of these people, even in interviews don't seem as interesting or funny because they can't control every second of what you see. They actually have to display talent which most of them don't have much of or it may still be in the raw potential stage. A bunch of jump cuts on a 1-5 minute video can make anybody appear more interesting/funny then they really are. He wasn't the experiment. There were plenty before him and will be after. It all just comes down to can you make people want more of you outside of Youtube and IG. For him that answer was no.

There really is tiers to this shyt. Those vice dudes that are going to showtime are so bad they might actually make it.

This dude went from youtube to Hollywood without going through the ringer like everyone else.

Speaks on his issues with Hollywood as he was managed by Steve Rifkind, working with Russell's ADD, and taking a lot of hits(loses) as one of the first youtube stars. He was also an "experiment" as he call it.

Check it out!

With that said what do you guys think of this? Also was he the first youtube star as he claims?

He was one of the first...he was on YouTube when platforms/Adsense were not paying people to upload videos. They were just entertainer who where only making money with side deals and doing it for fun.

He got done dirty. I kind of knew this would happen years ago too when I saw who was trying to give him a push. Sad.

I watched the whole video about a week ago, and I agree with you.

Sucks to say, but he was on the right track when he linked with CAA (or whatever agency it was). Where he messed up (and this is paraphrasing his own words) was when he wanted to go with the folks instead of white people.

Both Russ & CAA can be classified as "the machine", but one of those machines is built for the business he was/wanted to be in, and the other made his name/money/bones in another business.

This isn't a "white is right" post, but sometimes you have to go where you're uncomfortable to get things done right than go where you're comfortable and have things done wrong. In this case, based on what he said himself, things were going well with CAA.

That doesn't always mean 'white', but in this case, even the way he broke it down, he shoulda leaned heavier towards his agency than Russ/ADD. They were sending him real scripts, getting him to tape and go on auditions etc. I'm sure 2-3 years ago they had a digital arm or at least an agent or 2 on staff who could link him directly with YouTube.

I hope the breh bounces back, because I actually do think he's talented and he has a "voice". He just needs to get his head on straight, assess what went wrong and what went right and start trying to rebuild the bridge on the pathway to the things that went right instead of focusing on those who wronged him.

Easier said than done, but doing is way better than saying.
