I know Rome was the dude who played Black Jesus (or was that on the web series?) in season one and Chaz was on i think ep. 1 when Issa did the Broken p*ssy freestyle. I know Issa helps out all her people from the web series cause a number of them have had cameos playing the polar opposite. I gotta rewatch season 1 & 2 to be sure (which isnt a problem in the least bit)

I was searching for Tay's SoundCloud page because I wanted to listen to one of his older albums. Came across this IG post from earlier this year :picard:

I honestly think same thing that happened to him is currently happening to those Dormtainment brothas.

They started around the same time, 2008-09, constantly cranking out videos and building a base. They were both passed by the Vine generation of stars (King Bach, DC Young Fly... etc etc), but still managed to work a deal with All Def Digital. Moved out to L.A., then bam... they go radio silent.

I believe DT is signed with Kevin Hart's company now, and they still do weekly podcasts but their videos came to an absolute halt.
A damn shame because their content was excellent. It just never happened for them. After the LA move it was never the same. They made albums. Their skits were great. It sucks that they couldn't get on.

I think something like this happened to MrChiCity also.

I think he basically sat back and watched all the "Deals" that were coming to him off his content and decided he rather have his personal freedom and ability to create content he owns and controls as opposed to doing shyt on a timeline like contracted folk.

Was trying to find that live stream he did like last year hinting at a comeback or at least new content but he prolly deleted it as well. In that video he was talking about some HBO deal amongst others that he was weighing in on at the time.

As one dude on here said, that creative control once you give it up for a salary ain't for everyone that's already proud of what following and freedom they already have on here and Chi city said that many times in his Q&A's.

I highly doubt we'll see him on a bigger platform but I thank and wish for him the best.

Some of his comments about his entertainment peers not fukking with him after he fell off is kinda bullshyt. Networking is part of the job but don’t tell me you didn’t see there bullshyt ways until your were no one useful to them. I remember when he got put on, he was pretty arrogant in the mid 00s.

Also most dudes who put on dresses can’t break 20k on ig.
Playing a legit dumb thug was cool and masculine.

I’m all for telling your truth but tell the WHOLE truth.
With that said. Most of the OG black Youtubers were passed up by the Vine generation and it said sad they are the general same age.

LaToya, 4yallentertainment, shanebooty...trying to think of Americans black youtubers who actually have success from that era....not just Canadians and British
