I can believe the "experiment" talk someone in here mentioned. I'm sure they used him as an early example to see if sourcing talent from Social Media would work.
So he was one of the first that you remember seeing do the youtube shyt heavy?

I forget if he was Vine or IG or Youtube but he was one of the first that I saw start getting roles in TV shows and movies. I think they deaded him when the DC Young Fly Generation of talent came along.

nikka you talking about a whole nother youtuber HotdamnIrock not Spoken Reasons.
I remember when he was sick and the doctors couldn't find what was wrong with him.. and he covered his whole body with tats.

Also dude was losing his hair, how did he get it back?
h
First YouTube star as in what? No he was not.

And interestingly he got sick after he got exposed for using Patrice O'neal's content and passing it off as his own.

And he also mentioned being homeless recently. Actually make sense because I'd use to see spoken reasons walking around in a dusty wife beater here in Florida.

Said he was homeless two times in the past 10 years :mjcry: That shyt is wild!

so russell didn't SHARE any of that ad revenue with him??? :patrice:

I don't think so but what did happen was when he signed with Russell he got his adsense put back on the videos on his channel so he could eat again. Before he signed with Russell they got removed and he made it seem like signing with Russell was the only way he could get the ad money from his own youtube channel back.

Yeah I know Young Fly and a lot of other people started coming out after him, including the Buzz feed people like Quinta B but i'm trying to rememeber who was first, was it Deshawn Raw or who. I remember somebody before him but can't get the name. maybe it will come to me but in this video he claims he was first, i'm just trying to see how true that is. Either way he was probably one of the first for sure.

He says he even met Brian Robbins who started All That and Kenan and Kel and they had a whole sort of plan with him but a lot of shyt didn't work out cause he just wanted to break down the relationship game and shyt like that. Also says he was on youtube and world star thanks to Q.

Yeah the first black one to get Tv shows and movies placement. It was a few cacs like Fred who was able to get on movies before him I think. I remember Nickelodeon did a whole special with Fred and than put him on Icarly.

Yeah man.

He said he only signed with a network because youtube started to cut his ad money but he wanted to stay independent because he felt those offers he got from various people were too low. In the video he said he could already edit and record his own videos he didn't see the purpose of joining a network especially if they were going to low ball him and take a cut of his adsense.

A lot of these YouTubers/Instagram "entertainers" don't make it because they have to step out of that control shell. You see a lot of these people, even in interviews don't seem as interesting or funny because they can't control every second of what you see. They actually have to display talent which most of them don't have much of or it may still be in the raw potential stage. A bunch of jump cuts on a 1-5 minute video can make anybody appear more interesting/funny then they really are. He wasn't the experiment. There were plenty before him and will be after. It all just comes down to can you make people want more of you outside of Youtube and IG. For him that answer was no.

I did start looking at youtube for anything other than old music videos until like 2012 when i got into the fitness stuff so I have no idea the timeline. I do remember this dude was one of the first to “blow up” that i can think of

I honestly think same thing that happened to him is currently happening to those Dormtainment brothas.

They started around the same time, 2008-09, constantly cranking out videos and building a base. They were both passed by the Vine generation of stars (King Bach, DC Young Fly... etc etc), but still managed to work a deal with All Def Digital. Moved out to L.A., then bam... they go radio silent.

I believe DT is signed with Kevin Hart's company now, and they still do weekly podcasts but their videos came to an absolute halt.

Always thought he was corny, like most of those vine dudes were. Most of these dudes ain't real comedians and ran out of material.
Guys like DC Young Fly who were actually funny managed to outlast him.
Bad management can obviously set you back. And probably did get starved out by Russell and them, thats the disgusting part about this.
The big wigs don't appreciate the independence and will find ways to smother you and force you into signing.
THey have all sorts of methods, don't think they won't put a case on you so that legal fees put you in a bad space financially, forcing you to sign.
