This summer has been a great learning experience for me.....It's been the first time I've actually written down my bets in an Excel spreadsheet and documented everything. From Wins, Losses, how much I'm betting, how many units I've bet on games, side, total etc. I even calculated the average juice I'm paying on baseball bets (since the juice fluctuates between underdogs and favorites on a moneyline sport). I actually want to flesh out the spreadsheet a lot more to include other things about the particular games I'm betting on.....road team record, home team record, off back to back games, shyt like that.
I learned so much about my bad habits.....I had a terrible run at one point this summer but based on my win/loss record & unit structure I should be up so much. I practiced bad money management, thus I'm down......It hurts to realize that but in the long run it helps. Seeing that on paper eliminates those bad habits.
If you're going to take sports betting serious, document your plays.........It's even helped me in terms of budgeting my life because now I pretty much write down all my real life expenditures. Let's me know where I'm going wrong, where I'm spending too much, etc. I account for every single dollar I spend.
My plan for my sports betting is basically to knock out bills. I'd like to knock out my student loans first, then ideally it'd just be another source of income each month. From everything I've learned over the last few years and this summer I know it's possible to do so. How cool would it be to have your job, your career and not even have to touch that money in order to pay your bills. I don't have a car note, I paid my car in cash so basically it's just student loans, rent, cable, shyt like that.....to be able to knock all that out from a side income would be amazing.
