I currently have both T-Mobile (Nexus 4) & Sprint (Note 2) in NYC.
I definitely get more coverage in more places with T-mobile even if it's Edge where Sprint will have either no service or Roam. I get simillar speeds on 4G LTE but it's definitely more consistent on T-Mobile. I usually hit about 15megs down on both and about 24megs down on Sprint a little less on T-mobile... about 21-22ish.
The new Sprint Plans are complete bullshyt though I can't wait to cancel my last 2 Sprint lines even though I'm on their old plan and used up over 50 gigs of data last month.

S Usage Limitations: Other plans may receive prioritized bandwidth availability. Streaming video speeds may be limited to 1 Mbps. Sprint may terminate service if off-network roaming usage in a month exceeds: (1) 800 min. or a majority of min.; or (2) 100 MB or a majority of KB. Prohibited network use rules apply. See sprint.com/termsandconditions.]
