They should have kept in him thru the offseason and seen if he really would have sat out games again. DeRozan has been great offensively for the Spurs (and we won't really know the full value of the trade until next season when Dejounte Murray is healthy), but seeing some of the starts for these would-be contenders has me lamenting the fact that the Spurs could have gotten even more for Klaw.

Let's say Kawhi put up the opening few games comparable to what he's doing in Toronto now. You mean to tell me the Lakers don't come up off Kuz and Ingram in a nanosecond after their start? The 76ers don't chunk the deuce to Simmons and Fultz or Saric after their start? The Celtics don't seriously consider flipping one of the Js and a piece?

There's no way the locker room/court is any more awkward than what it is with Jimmy and the Wolves right now. And the only teammates that would have been alienated by Kawhi staying were Manu and Parker, and they're both gone.

Again, Pop and RC made the Toronto move not knowing that Murray's knee would disintegrate, Walker's knee would almost follow suit and that White would sustain a foot injury as well. But I wonder what could have been had they held on into the season. :mjcry:

Nah, that situation was too cancerous. Pop isn’t desperate like Thibs either. They did what they had to do, you’re never gonna get equal compensation for someone that good. And at this point in his career, having Derozan is better than any of those other young boy situations you listed.

I don't see Zaza in GS anymore so it's more like Raps in 6 :yeshrug:

We'll see Zaza 4 times in the East though, someone must injure this oaf for the good of humanity

Call his bluff? Spurs got an All Star in their prime with 3 years on his deal remaining and he playing the best ball of his career right now. That hoe nikka would've tanked another year and if we trade him we would've got A LOT less. That nikka not staying in Toronto, close to 0% chance because Uncle Dennis, his new daddy, got big hollywood plans for the mute

I don’t get it. You got another superstar in return. And Philly still wouldnt give up Simmon. DeRozan is probably the best proven player the spurs could’ve gotten back. Only other alternative was to go after package with young high future upside. Pops obviously wasn’t interested in that and wanted to contend this season.

You weren’t goin to get over on Danny Ainge. He overvalues his own pieces way too and wasn’t goin to give the spurs a trade of anywhere near equivalent value. He wasn’t giving up more than one of Tatum, Rozier, or Brown. If he gives you two of them and a first round you take it but he wasn’t .

I think the spurs did the best they could. If They start the season with kawhi and he doesn’t play, his value dips cuz now teams have the leverage on trade talks based if the desperate state the spurs would’ve been.

Yeah, likely wouldn't have had to throw in Danny as well though. Still kills me that the injuries have left us with Bryn and Patty playing such heavy minutes :sadmitch:

:stopitslime:No... why do you delusional nikkas think this was ever going to happen? Especially with the sixers ... if they did that trade they would lock themselves into a team that has no capspace left and only Embiid/Leonard

Furthermore Why would you want someone around that doesn’t want be there:what: it’s like those lame nikkas that stalk their exes at work when she already put your Xbox on the curb ...bytch it’s over ..make peace with it and move on with life ...

I If they could have gotten more out of a trade they would have but all you have to do is look at the list of previous packages single year contract stars have returned to their old teams to see why that didn’t happen :hubie:
