I need video.

Unless you’ve literally driven that intersection—-I have—- you kinda gotta stfu. Bc these squeegee boys ain’t what some of y’all are try of to paint them as

Many things can be true: the self defense was warranted if dude hopped out with a bat.

But at the same time, people need to gtfoh trying to make these kids angels. If you’re street smart yea we know how to navigate them. But if you’re not, they WILL try to intimidate you. They’ll wet your whole windshield before you even realize, and might try to strongarm payment.

That’s a known thing in the hood, cats aggressively asking for help that borders on implied aggression. I don’t do implied aggression. Idgaf who you are. Like no ngga don’t stand aggressive in front of 7-11 like you robbin nggas… Nggas talkin bout ‘oh nah you just gotta tell them no’ After they touched my shyt? That’s a pocket tap homie. That’s like somebody tappin yo pockets and you saying ‘oh nah they won’t TAKE the money, just tell ‘em no! 🙂

They not thinking like that tho. These guys live day to day. And it’s not like they have a good support system. If they did they wouldn’t be out there in the first place
I get that bro. Then they need to be open to listen and learn or they gonna be the like 50 year old sqeggie boys that’s out there next to them.

Be able to listen and be approachable. If they city is offering ways to do shyt a different way then take the opportunity.

You can still work and get off and go squeegee. Some times you know a a man we have to go extra hard, put our heads down and do what we need to do to get up

Recently due to poor choices on my part I got put in a whole cause I let my kids mom run loose with funds and she moved very irresponsible while I was sick

I corrected that and we moving apart, but for the next 3 weeks I had to work about 70 hours a week, I had to put all the fun shyt I like to do to the side, even family functions and holidays to the side to come up. And I did it. But I also took any help I could get also

They can be contracted/1099 workers getting paid three and four times for the same duties than salary/hourly at minimum wage.

You can be a worker and still get paid.

The hustle mindset is cool if you have a skill that can bring you money.
If you don't it harmful. A lot of these young brothers are going to be fukked when they are adults and nobody feel sorry for them

I hear you.

I'm 40 and have been driving since the late 90s so maybe I've just lucked out the whole time. I've only really encountered them on MLK, harbor east, president street, north Ave, etc...

That's just my experience though. Shaking my head no or just saying I ain't got no money has usually gotten me by where the youngins would keep it pushing and go to the next car.
My encounters would happen on MLK, Harbor East, or Orleans St.
You can’t replace a “job” with a method that provides cash daily. Cash everyday means you meet needs daily, a job means working at least two weeks before seeing a dime.

My suggestion was to put them on a path to bidding on government contracts. A lot of dirty windows in the city and a contract can yield to more solid financial options.
That’s why I said connect them to resources too. You need food for a few weeks, reliable clothes, bus passes, childcare, the resources I had would help with all of that while you worked in the hole a couple. I also had a variety of opportunities. They got a get it out the mud mentality but are shortsighted about the opportunities they could have. Ideally all their needs would be met but realistically that is tough to do given their situation.

Your govt contracts idea is good. They would still need training and have to wait for payment.

This. You have to be able to recognize help. @Ineedmoney504 lmk if I’m wrong. You had to put your head down and get shyt done to move out of your situation. I also assume, you knew you would only be down for a finite period.

Gotta get them to see the long term. Endure a little more of the uncomfortable now to enjoy the fruit later

Absolutely. I took about a day to let myself go thru the depression i was facing and to go over what I needed to do in my head and I put a plan in motion to move forward. I knew the amount of work I was gonna have to put in to come out on top and it was depressing thinking about it.

But once the next day came I took off fam. No stopping after that, no fun and games and straight to business

Absolutely and I’m still not out of the clear cause again I had to leave my kids mom and I working to make sure she lands properly also cause my baby gonna have to be there 50% of the time.

Yes, but government has more control over when release of funds then they do over payroll frequency at McDonald’s or other private institution.

Even offering payment for training and another release once up and running. Leadership could offer more sustainable pathways.

And I feel you but employment is at an all time low, their are jobs out there.

NYC was thick with squeegees in the 80's and they pretty much went away.

Why does Baltimore have this issue but not Chicago, Atlanta, Tampa, etc?

NYC ain't a good comparison since the NYC economy was poppin in the 90's.

Kids that try to wash your windows with a squeegee for a dollar or loose change. You'll see them posted up at Red lights/intersections.

If you don't want them to wash your windows, you just shake your head no and they won't. Simple as that really.

LOL.. naw. They will try to wash your window before you even say anything.

As a bmore resident I hate these nikkas ngl.

Nikkas be out there 30+ years of age trying to be a squeegee kid.

It be like 6 to 8 nikkas at each intersection, reminds me of how it would be 10 nikkas on one corner all trying to sell dime bags, like bruh what is yall doing.

One time a breh asked for thr change in my ashtray after i told him i got no cash, it had to be like 17 cents

If you a broad they get aggressive, latest hustle they got going is asking for cashapp and as soon as you unlock your shyt to cashapp them they take your phone and cashapp themselves and they boys like 500 each. Most broads at getting out the car chasing these nikkas down and most nikkas won't now that they out here shooting people

Fukk a squeegee boy and anybody that love em:pacspit:

You'll occasionally catch them in the county too. Especially on Security Blvd by the mall.
