who's overrating Chris Andersen
that makes it two utterly ridiculous statements in a row he has made concerning race and social prejudice/conditioning. Hes doing a disservice social analysis. He either needs to get his sht together, or abandon racial themes all together, because now it comes across like hes mocking black social commentary. He needs to chill the fck out
it's true and birdman is obviously on some type of ped, .

Uncle Tim
@ Tim Wise really sparking a term in the urban dictionary...I agree that this is the risk he is taking, but, I'm not sure it applies to SVG at this point. What did you find wrong with his first comment?
I saw that thread while browsing on my phone....you shouldn't have taken ANY heat for your comments there.I took a lot of heat in the original thread, but my point was that while his idea of white life being treated more valuable than black life is absolutely correct, his comparison of an act of terrorism to random shootings was invalid. Acts of terrorism have a raised consciousness in our country, and thats cross-racial.
Now compare shootings to shootings....or if he had an example of terrorism that affect blacks largely but was ignored.
SVG when he was way off base and ignorant with his commentary on the events in Boston. Questioning it as a "tragedy" was ridiculous on his part.I saw that thread while browsing on my phone....you shouldn't have taken ANY heat for your comments there.

And I dont think birdman is being overhyped at all. Hes interesting as a person (hes not a typical kak, obviously), and he clearly has made a difference in the bottom line. Again, his point about great white hypes is valid, but this example is invalid. Hell, the person I see giving him the most props is fcking Shaq (birdman birdman!). If anything, Birdman is getting love because he is the anti-white guy.
A better comparison is kevin love, who is white bread and honky as hell which is a natural mainstream attraction. If a black player had his resume --- empty stats, run-ins with management, continual losing seasons, etc the narrative would be much different. The media treats Love like a budding star and everything "right" about the league. Thats racial
.So I guess you hashed the first argument out in the other thread, no need to hijack this one.
Birdman is a heavily tattooed, recovering drug attack who is celebrated by NBA commentators and fans as somehow being representative of what's good and unique about the league
.
His contributions are just that, contributions. That's great, but are we really acting like the play he gets from the media and fans has nothing to do with skin color?
