I got to stop you there I am a Deep Space Nine Fan myself and Next Gen is pretty good but it was pretty whack the first 2 seasons. it was not until season 3 where they finally hit there stride and started to get good.

About to finish season 5 of DS9
( Watch a few episodes a day while on the treadmill)
That 6 year single story arc " the dominion war" ( even though it was mentioned in the first season)
Fully developed bad guys and they have episodes that are dedicated to their point of view
Hell, fully developed Characters overall and since the it was basically one over arching story-line, every decision made by every character had consequences.
Not following the typical star trek formula.
Tackling religion
Black excellence ( Avery Brooks) chewing up scenery as the Commander, then Captain
Showing the seedier side of the federation


I was like OP , I initially thought TNG was the best Star trek out there
But a buddy of mine turned me onto this and the Battlestar Galactica reboot.

DS9, TNG, and VOY were all piff (I know... I'm like 1 out of the 3 people that actually liked Voyager)

But DS9 is the shyt, it's funny because the only Star Treks I've seen were TNG, VOY, and a little bit of ENT (that shyt was horrible) but I decided to put myself onto it via Netflix a few months ago. This meme right here is one of the reasons I'll put Sisko as the GOAT Trek Captain

show me a better ep then in the Pale Moonlight with Next Gen

Once the Kiglons came on DS9 there was never a dull ep the same could not be said for Next Gen even when they hit there stirde they had some weak eps. I liked Voyager but there is no way it was better then DS9.

I will give you this Next Gen is eaiser to get into then DS9. Once the Dominion came in if you didn't watch the previous eps then you were lost.
