The next generation was great.... I became a fan on accident because they used to play it on week nights late on fox after the Simpsons and I'd be in bed about to pass out watching it every night

Reading this thread just makes me  that we don't really have any good scifi shows anymore ...TNG...DS9..SG1 (and its iterations) were all fukkin great

What do we have now? Some decent action series but nothing to compare to the scifi series in this thread
The only decent one now is Falling Skies.

Watch Fringe if you haven't seen it and Revolution get pretty good from the second half of season 1 onward.

I kind of liked Ba'al...a system lord should be arrogant. Yu was of favorite Goa'uld though. The replicators was my favorite villain...only because I could see something like that happen in real life. I also think the Ori story arc was aimed at Christianity.

the ori story basically ended the show, terrible idea and with mcgyver leaving

this shyt to epic, not only did it span 7 seasons without falling of. it also has no homo activity in it, not one drop of homo unlike any other show. it also has great moral messages like the episode where data becomes captain and people dont think he is qualified because he is an android *black* also.... THE BORG. damn no denying it brehs

:manny: I liked the Ori. Hated the Replicators. Just a boring, repetitive enemy.

It was funny, when Atlantis launched I was :blessed: no more replicators in the Pegasus Galaxy but alas, no... the writers just couldn't think of anything new.

The Inner Light :salute::banderas:

TNG was the first Star Trek I watched(got into them last year) but DS9 is without a doubt the best. Sisko, Odo:wow:, Quark :russ:, Garak, and Dukat who was one of the best villains to ever grace a series. They even had sympathizing with him at some points only for him to go HAM during the Dominion War. Plus I always had a thing for Kira :ahh:

Have Not checked Bab 5 or Farscape yet - May have to track it down on netflix or some of the unsupported plex channels:lolbron:.
i heard it was decent as well.
But I may switch up with the next series
Like watch the x-files again then do a space opera.
I never watched x-files seriously back in the day, it may be on my list after Twighlightzone and Outer limits. But yah DS9 and Babylon 5 are slightly similar so it may be a good idea to take a break. So many shows, so little time, after I finish Babylon 5 I need to cut myself off of tv (with the exception of Game of Thrones ofcourse) I can't be wasting time like this when I should be investing it in my goals.

Oh wow, I was just about to make a Star Trek thread and saw this shyt here.

I've watched every TNG episode, and I'm on DS9. They are both very different types of shows, and I'm not even sure that you could even make a fair comparison between them.

I LOVED TNG. There were a lot of duds, but there were also a lot of fantastic episodes. I loved that episode where Picard was kidnapped from the enterprise and sent into some prison with three other aliens (the mystery & build up on that was crazy). I liked 'The Most Toys'. I liked 'Hotel Royale'. The episodes were so far out and crazy, it really made me respect the writers of the show.

I've been watching DS9 for a fair bit, and while I like it I don't think it's the same calibre as TNG. Since the series is set in a fixed location, the writers are kinda restricted in what they can do. Having The Defiant, kinda removed some of the ennui because it allowed the characters to move about & the action scenes added some much needed excitement to the series. However, while DS9 isn't quite as exciting as TNG the characters are a bit more developed. My favorite characters in DS9 are Quark, Garak, Gul Dukat & to a lesser extent Odo. Odo & Quark are always cracking on each other, shyt is all round comedy. Same thing with Garak and Odo. Gul Dukat is hilarious as well.

But I personally think that the Siskos are the model black family on television. I like how Jake Sisko's an aspiring writer and haas been modelled after Hemingway. I can relate to him because he's tall, skinny, awkward, somewhat lazy but smart. I like seeing black characters on TV who have a bit of depth to them, not just the same old tired tropes.

The TNG episode: 'Who Watches The Watchers' is one of favorites ever. If you're religious, don't watch this one lol. It really destroys religion.

^ nah, i don't think there's any real agenda with star trek. they shyt on religion heavy on who watches the watchers, but if you watch DS9 you'll see that they push the arcane aspects of it back to the forefront (the people of Bajor consider Sisko to be a religious deity aka 'The Emissiary')
