It’s so obvious how much better the scenery looks. The locations are real and they just CGI the Star Wars stuff into the background. It looks amazing.

i used to go for lunch on andor aka the blocks located between moorgate and barbican station.

That shyt is holding back marvel and star wars content. Look at Captain America Brave New World...it looks so phony, no locations feel real, some CGI backgrounds look abhorrent.

Filming as much as possible IN camera, and on location is the way. There is a reason shyt from the 70s like 2001 a space odyssey, and early 80s like Return of The Jedi look incredible still. Blade Runner looks insane.

This is why you don't see Disney hire too many "name" directors. Yes, they got Coogler and a few others but you think Denis would have did 'Dune' for WB if he wasn't allowed to film on all those locations? Would never happen...

Reeves wouldn't have did 'The Batman' if most of it wasn't practical effects either..

The other Star Wars and Marvel stuff that uses that green screen rooms looks incredibly shallow and fake.

If anyone over at Disney or Lucas Film was competent they would put this Gilroy cat in charge. EVERYTHING about his shows shyts on not only the other shows but the new movies as well.

Yes, 'Andor' is probably the best looking 'Star Wars' content there is aside from the OT which had to use a lot of practical effects and models etc.

Yeah for pure visuals I'd rank

Return of the Jedi
The empire strikes back
Andor
Star wars
The force awakens = The rise of skywalker
Rogue one
Phantom Menace
The last Jedi
Mando
Asoka
Book of boba fett
Rise of skywalker
Attack of the clones

All the computer animated content (I fukking hate the art style and always will)

I also like the way it lets them play with having parts of the background in focus/out of focus in camera.

I can’t bring myself to watch this series. Are there Jedi & lightsabers in it yet? :unimpressed:
This series ain't for you if you are looking for those specifically.

The Maul animated show that comes out next year or Ahsoka Season 2 whenever that comes out will be more up your alley.

Gilroy actually presents this world as a place where real people live. Not just a backdrop for laser sword fights and bombastic set pieces.
As much as I like Andor I don’t think it has mass appeal

It's not gonna have mass appeal because when most people think of 'Star Wars' they think about lightsaber theatrics and a simplified 'dark vs. light'

This is probably getting a lot more viewers than it would have though. The casuals would not have tuned in to see Andor flying around with K-2so on some buddy cop shyt for two seasons.

The hardcores are gonna watch this and people like me who like 'Star Wars' but don't watch all of the content are locked in because it's so well acted, story is so expertly crafted, production design is tremendous, costumes are great etc...

I'd have never watched 'Andor' if it wasn't for the praise the first season was getting. The acting and political climate and layered characters are what got me :ohhh:

I’m speaking more in terms of making the world seem believable, living, and having characters with coherent motivations and plot beats.

You can still have Jedi along with an actual decent story. The rest of the material they are putting out.

So I just started Andor

This a prequel to a prequel? :dwillhuh:

Going in totally blind by the way
Basically yeah. You prob could watch this before Rouge One tho. Though generally I would suggest watching the original trilogy first if you still haven’t.

Honestly would wonder what would be the most ideal watch order if someone were new to Star Wars. Original Trilogy would obviously be first.

Rogue One was my favorite since Episode 3 and I liked Obi’s show :yeshrug:

Everyone has said it’s a good show tho so I’ll stick it out
