Basically yeah. You prob could watch this before Rouge One tho. Though generally I would suggest watching the original trilogy first if you still haven’t.
Dont say all that, you gotta scare ppl away :dahell:
They good with just jumping straight into Andor. I dont remember shyt in the OT(other than shyt like Vader being luke dad or some shyt) and I was ok. Hell I didnt even remember Vader killed palpatine or w/e til a pod said it the other day.

I mean both Andor and Rouge One are well-written enough where you could start with them. Like they are genuinely not only great Star Wars films/TV series, but great films/TV series in general. However, they work and bounce with the Original Trilogy so well is more so my main point.

Honestly would wonder what would be the most ideal watch order if someone were new to Star Wars. Original Trilogy would obviously be first.
If you start with Andor, then Rogue One and then A New Hope, you are gonna be cheering for Luke waaaay more than if you start straight up with that film.

The only challenge you gonna face if you wait to watch Ep IV is getting used to the film being from 1977.

The problem is, and this applies to watching the prequels before the og trilogy...is that those movies and series expect you to KNOW the force, the stakes, what the empire is, what the death star is, etc....they have an expectation that you know what the stakes are going in. Like, in Andor and rogue one they expect you to know the devastation of the death star going into it, and why this is all so important. The world is already built. When they mention Tarkin in passing you know who he is and how evil he is. They don't explain it.

So, as a narrative yes the story will make sense and build up I suppose, but the stakes and gravity of everything will not.

Tarkin is the one I'd give you but everything else I don't see it being hurt by watching Andor/Rogue One. By the time Vader shows ups and wrecks shyt in RO you'd be like :why: how the fukk do you beat these people :mjcry:

You see what the Death Star can do in RO as well.

I think the stakes are way more clear if you watch Andor/RO because you've grown attached to the rebellion and know the everyday atrocities the Empire commits. So when you watch A New Hope and get a bigger plot less concerned about the little things or "normal folks", you are gonna get behind Luke/Leia/Han because you have a much better sense of what they are trying to defeat.

But maybe I say that because I already watched ANH so who knows :heh:

I think knowing how important what they're fighting for going into Andor is very important, and makes the stakes greater.

What I said applies to the prequels more btw.

I've been watching the prequels... basically because I want to watch 'Rogue One' again once this is over so I thought I'd start from the beginning.

I been saying this for a minute now, the prequels are not that bad.

'The Phantom Menace' is pretty bad, I'll give you that. Everything with Jar Jar and that whole journey sucks. A couple things I do like about the movie: I do like the pod race and I love the final sequences where Darth Maul finally puts in work.. That is a great scene. It saves the movie.

'Attack of the Clones' is actually pretty decent, I don't know why people shyt on it. Yes, the lack of chemistry and dialogue between Hayden Christianson and Natalie Portman is abhorrent but the rest of the movie is good. I really enjoy everything they do with Obi Wan and Fett. The battle that begins the Clone Wars is pretty dope and then we get to see Yoda get busy against Count Dooku who was also dope..

'Revenge of the Sith' is great from beginning to end. I don't even have to put much detail in that. It's very good.

In Retrospect comparing The Prequel & Sequel Trilogy is interesting because the Prequels had interesting ideas to them, though obviously, we know the script and dialogue issues. While the Sequel Trilogy felt soulless. Not to mention how much a lack of planning was its biggest issue. It felt like 3 separate films then a trilogy with one idea.

The weirdest thing about the prequels was that it did a better fleshing out how Palpatine manipulated Anakin and also how Obi-Wan failed Anakin. Rather than how Anakin turned to the dark side. Ultimately, Anakin's portrayal in the Clone Wars by Matt Lanter was better than Hayden. Granted, Hayden is more recognizable for obvious reasons.
