Fan fiction. Darth Maul died in phantom menace. Anything saying he still alive is non canon imo. Same with sidious.Thats dope that Maul was a Crime boss like Jabba the Hut. Makes sense he would need to be in the shadows before Palps found him again. I gotta reread up on him. The night sisters stuff is dope lore too
But the big difference between Maul and Sidous retcon is that for Maul it actually served a purpose. Maul had gone from the cool mysterious villain in Episode 1 to a well-written compelling villain. Also, Maul had no mention in canon beyond episode 1 in terms of films. So there were no contradictions. With being said, it would be a huge issue if they retconned his death in Rebels since it served as a great end to his character arc.Fan fiction. Darth Maul died in phantom menace. Wish they would stop retconning these deaths. Only makes the films the preceded them seem pointless in retrospect
What i love about Andor and Rogue One is they actually enhance the movies, they don't just steal from them and contradict major plot points.
he was never mentioned again because he died. But the big difference between Maul and Sidous retcon is that for Maul it actually served a purpose. I don't think much needs to be said about how awful the retcon of Sidious was in comparison.
Which is my point. He was only meant to be badass and look cool for the movie. Well, him killing Qui-Gon was his only real purpose as it was at that moment Anakin's fate to become Darth Vader began. Him coming back didn't screw with that. Hell, his final conversation in Rebels really emphasized the importance of Obi-Wan protecting and watching over Luke. Which did more than anything the Obi-Wan show did.he was never mentioned again because he died.
