Again what I say is speculation not fact. I don't have the script. I'm just going off the marketing and who was shown in the trailer. It's clear they are positioning him as the young male hero of the story. Daisy is the female. Oscar is playing a young Han Solo clearly. A cocky pilot. That's why I said he was a young Luke. Daisy looks like a Young Leia. If you look at the three of them it's like mirroring the original trilogy. But the origins of the characters is obviously way different with John being a Stormtrooper, Daisy being on some Desert Planet and Oscar being an X Wing Pilot. Do all of them have the force? Nobody knows, I'm speculating John and Daisy probably do cause they were shown so much in the trailer. But again just speculation:

all the content in the expanded universe played a major role in pushing Star Wars forward for decades and ensuring its future now with the reboot, but you're right Lucas deserves alot of credit
