I mean... it's been available technology for years, so why not? 
they've had it since the 8 came out they just never sold the chargers. You had to buy a more powerful charger included.
You could even charge the 7 faster. I have a 17W one that boosts my 7 Plus in about 50% of the time.

Apple also knows that unless there is some huge innovation in battery tech or other tech, these phones are mostly played out for the $$ they are asking and folks will just keep their current phones longer. With them supporting old phones for so long and making those phones so reliable, they have a knife pointed at their heart. That’s why they are trying to get into “services” like that Apple Card to diversify.

Still on iPhone 6s lol I need to get an 8+ the 6s+ was my favorite to date. Just don't value cosmetic upgrades. I recently considered getting an X model but then seeing the 11 price has changed how I am going about all of this. The 8 seems to be good enough. All overpriced however.

Bruh, they are the number one phone manufacturer in the US as far as phone sales and they make upwards to 80% of mobile sales profits. I don’t like these high ass prices either, but they know what they’re doing.
I mean one phone manufacturer has around 50% of smartphone sales in the US. That’s insane. All the doom and gloom stuff has to stop.
