Curry is an offensive juggernaut. His numbers/efficiency/TS are unprecedented. Another couple years at this level and there's no denying that he is a top 5 offensive player in history. His numbers over the past 3-4 yrs say he on par with Michael fukkin Jordan in terms of gravity, plus/minus and efficiency. So yea he's an offensive juggernaut. He's an analytic nerds wet dream..

Here's the problem...we're putting wayy too much stock into offense and we're forgetting that defense also impacts the game. nikkas are getting way too carried away with Curry's offense and are forgetting that he's an average defender at best..that's called a weakness. Yet i see people are now ranking him over Kobe Bryant. Kobe didnt play defense his last 5-6yrs but in his prime he was the best 2way player in the game. That has to factor in when u compare alltime greats, but because Curry's per is so beastly people are glossing over his shortcomings on otherside of the ball. Look at Dwade...in his prime not only did he also have a 30 per season and was a beastly efficient, offensive machine..but he was an absolute tasmanian devil on D...he had his team in the top 10 in defensive ranking without a rim protector. But we're ranking Curry over him now, we're saying what Curry is doing now is better than anything he and Kobe ever did. Even though Curry doesnt even have the longevity to be ranked over Kobe and Dwade. But we'll throw that out for now

And address how the Curry effect is warping how past players even are being ranked. Steve Nash vs Jason Kidd...because of what Nash could do on offense and how he engineered top ranked offenses for years (which deserves props) he's now ranked over Kidd...despite the fact that Kidd was the best defensive and rebounding PG in his era, and was flat out a more versatile player. You can really see it getting out of control when you see nikkas using advanced offensive stats to rank Kyle Lowry over a hall of famer like Jason Kidd. Fighting tooth and nail.

Thats when you realize that people have lost perspective on the way to properly rank a player. Especially when dealing with alltime greats

After reading your statement. Offense has always been highly rated in the NBA. Defense is nice, but the majority of accolades go to supremely offensive individuals and teams. Look at how the bad boy Pistons are remembered compared to the showtime Lakers and Boston Celtics.

Steph lacks the athletic ability to be a great defender. It’ll only get worse once he gets older/something happens to his weak ankles. It is what it is :yeshrug:

They had less longevity and won less too :manny:

Their peak was also at an "unfortunate time": after the Cs began to fall off and before Chicago took off, so they really didn't have many rivals like Boston did (Philly & Milwaukee mainly)

Yeah but they competed with all those teams and beat all of them at some point. I'm not a Pistons fan but it's criminal how underrated their run is.

Look at who their leader/best player was.

If Isiah Thomas wasn't so hated by white people and the mainstream media at large the Pistons would be looked at A LOT more favorably than they are. The media has essentially turned them into the roadblock Jordan had to get over instead of the legendary team they are.

They had like a 4-years run (87 to 90) and made the most out of it :manny:

LA won 5 in a decade and went to 9 finals overall and Boston was a legit contender from like 1980 all the way to 88 when Bird began having health issues.

You're not wrong. I'm saying Mutombo should have the kind of acclaim that a guy like Curry does. Because offensive paramount. But a guy like Olajuwon who had great O and D should. Just like guys like Kobe and Wade should. Why? Cause they were great offensive and defensive players in their prime

Yet somehow Curry's offense trumps all of that
