Curry isn't a bad defender at all. He's not even an average defender. He's a good defender overall and a GREAT team defender. He's just the weakest perimeter defender on a team full of great defenders.

He's great at reading and blocking passing lanes, has a strong base that has even stopped Westbrook from posting him up in the playoffs, he's pretty physical and constantly putting his shoulders into players, a little dirty, he's a pickpocket master, he's a great communicator, he's great funneling players into teammates for help , and he has a high motor even though his lateral quickness is lacking.

He's only average on an island, onntje perimetet, against top caliber point guards which are the Dames, Kyrie, Harden, etc...which is pretty much all the best guards in the league.

Dudes need to stop confusing offensive players making good shots with bad defense and running with dumb narratives. Anyone who has actually watched Golden State over a season can tell you that Curry is a high IQ and impactful defender the majority of the time.

Michael fukkin Jordan in terms of gravity,

terms of gravity,

Such a goofy ass line that sounds so absurd.

The definition of gravity, as it relates to physics isn’t the only definition

Steph isn’t a better offensive player than either Kobe or Wade either so it doesn’t even matter about Defense really :mjlol:

Steph can shoot, that’s what he excels at. You can’t double team him either. Credit Steve Kerr for using him effectively.

nikkas using cac analytics when y’all gonna learn.

Steph is also an excellent passer. Screen player. And floor spacer.

I mean hes single handedly the reason why Durant gets wide open looks on offense.

He's a better passer, off the dribble shooter, off-ball mover, has far more range, is far more efficient despite taking more shots from distance, is a better free throw shooter, and does it in less minutes thoygh

It's funny how shooting and making difficult contested shots is why Kobe stans say Kobe is better than Bron but now they wanna talk about "all-around versatility and defense". :mjlol:

Lebron puts up better all-around numbers than Kobe for a decade and it's "shooting and Kobe's shot selection" is more important than passing, playmaking, rebounding, defensive versatility, etc.

Now Curry is on another planet than Kobe as a shooter while being a better playmaker and nikkas juelzingz :mjlol:

Perimeter defense is overrated. in NBA history, there are few NBA perimeter players that even register defensively

Second...defense from the point guard position doesn't even matter like that.

Westbrook can't defend for shyt
Dame can't defend for shyt
D.Rose in his prime couldn't defend for shyt either

shyt, Magic Johnson had Michael Cooper guarding guards, he wasn't some hot shot defender....

Who is the top PG that can play D today, John Wal, Chris Paul?

How many point guard defenders that are hall of fame caliber

Jason Kidd and Walt Frazier...

The most important player on any defensive is the Center.

You know how easy to hide a guard on defense?

There are a few star offensive perimeter players in NBA history that made significant impact on defense...it's rare.

Is the idea that Curry can't defend based on fact/real evidence that can be analysed and quantified or is it just based on fake news and false reputation. Like are there stats that shows curry is regularly scored on by whichever player he's guarding at a higher rate than other guards in the league and that he literally brings down the warriors defensive efficiency whenever he's on the court. criticial, non casual minds need answers

Face guard Steph and he goes from a good not elite ISO player to a below average one unlike Harden, Kyrie or even Westbrook/Lebron.

Doesn't have incredible versatility outside of scoring and his off ball scoring is heavily reliant on screening and other playmakers.

Porous defender even when engaged.

Makes tons of careless passes despite the "creativity."

Comparing his gravity to Shaq is laughable when only one of them is a legit offensive anchor and has FMVPs.

You got box score nerds then you got people who actually understand and watch the game so they can contextualize stats.

Steph Curry is a front runner who pads stats after his teammates build leads during the later rounds of the playoffs.

Stephen Curry had excellent defensive stats last year, he ranked higher than Kyrie Irving...

Here's an excellent write up

Why Steph Curry is Still Underrated (Defensively)

Curry ranks fifth amongst all point guards with a defensive real plus-minus (DRPM) of 1.29, ahead of renowned lockdown defenders Marcus Smart and Patrick Beverly. He leads all guards in defensive win shares (10th in the entire NBA). He also comes in at fifth in opponent field goal % difference (among guards who have played more than 70 games), meaning that opponents shoot 3.2 percentage points worse from the field when guarded by Curry. He leads the NBA in steals per game.

I mean... I Understand why Bron stans are suddenly propping Curry up, it fits the narrative. :yeshrug:

Curry is not a better basketball player than Kobe or Wade tho.

If he keeps on whipping Lebrons ass in the finals then hey... fine by me.

He's dope. Will go down as one of 3 best offensive players ever. But does he deserve to be ranked over players who were great offensively AND defensively? His superior offense isnt enough to cover that gap

Are you gonna provide evidence that steph is a bad defender or continue peddling the myth without any evidence.

What are his defensive numbers looking like compared to other starting guards in the league
