Chip team 1 and 4 were not superteams. They were just the perfect mix around him...like the overwhelming majority of chip teams. That said Steph, by nature of his main weapon and stature and durability, has always been streaky and needed more around him than the other players that he is grouped with historically. And I am not talking about talent or reputation, I am talking utlity...guys that can handle the ball, defend, rebound, keep his minutes and responsibility down etc. And yes all players need these things to a degree obviously. But with Steph, its the difference between a chip caliber team and a team that doesn't even make the playoffs. shyt gets ugly if it aint all just right around him.
Facts. Steph is an all time great. But he's not a top 10 all time player. He's too much of a defensive liability to be a floor raiser like the top 10 all time greats. He's definitely a ceiling raiser tho.
