thats some revisionist ass agenda shyt. GS put up about 115 a game. In the 80s an early 90s, they'd be one of many teams averaging 110+ points. In this era, they're the only one.
They cyse it like the league was this great land of hard nosed defense and players score at will today..the truth of the matter is scoring started declining in the mid 90s due to iso/stall ball. They switched the rules to get the scores back up and not get superstars beat up everytime they hit the lane. These were complaints back then. Nobody wanna watch them mid 90s Heat/Knicks 80-78 games

It was so bad they took seconds off the half court violation to make nikkas push the ball faster... Even still, nikkas dont score as much as they did back then.
bruh i had two discussions going at once. thats what happens when you only quote a portion of it then run on a tangent based on my entire point.
when i made that point about chef vs wall. it was to say. a super high scoring game where two guys score 90 or so points between the two of them and they are on opposite teams is not nearly as impressive as one guy going nuts for 50 all by his lonesome. while his opponent has say 25, or even 30. in a game with more of a normal score.
now back to my overall point about the chef and gstate. there's nothing you can take away from them at all. but you can state the facts. this era is easier for guards to move around and get open SHOTS. not necessarily open shots in the paint. but open shots along the perimeter. because thats the "dont touch em" zone. again g state has exploited the new rules, the lack of defensive man pressure guys can put on you nowadays, and to top all that off just like every team is doing nowadays, they run a lot of screens. so if it isnt bad enough trying to guard friggin steph and klay and nem. you now have to do it running around a screen, oh by the way, the screen might pop out for a trey too. lol oh by the way, he's wet too. because you have a team that practices shooting like no other team ever. since analytics has broken scoring down to a science.
what we have with these warriors is Moneyball basketball schemes meets Top 5 and top 100 talent. i'm talking all time.
if you replace klay with say JR smith. its still gstates game to lose. but its not a ready made road to an easy ship like it seems righ tnow. klay is wet as water TOO. not sure where he will rank among the elites when its all said and done. but he's top 100 all time and moving up.
or put it like this.
what would happen if you gave shaq and kobe and nem the best offense to run + the analytics, plus a ton of screens to boot. well you some what had a glimpse when they ran the league with that one loss in the playoffs.
i mean what if kobe played with a young glen rice(klay). OH MY. and this offense that gstate runs in addition to these new rules for defenders along the perimeter. OH BOY. and i havent even spoke on Dray aka big scottie with a jumper. aka anthony mason 3.0, aka lamar odom with a wet 3 ball.
and livingston was about to be a top tier PG for the clippers until he had that devastating injury. he still has a suspect 3ball. but this offense, paired with barbosa(who was wet with the suns in his prime).and the rest of these dudes. he has completely healed up and after all that rest for all those years. its like he's turned the clock back. i dont know how old he is. but he moves like he's 25.
its a perfect storm. the perfect fit players for the perfect offense to exploit these soft rules and by the way the main 3 players are ELITE. usually you have to find an offense like this to cover up the fact your guys are not ELITE. and thats in any sport. or maybe you have one main baller. the rest are just solid guys. you rarely if ever have more then one elite guy let alone 3 that you can also run in the perfect offense, where no one bucks the system because its perfectly built for all of them. I mean tell us. who makes who better on that team? does steph make klay better? or does klay give steph more breathing room? or is it all dray? or is it bogut, dray, and livingston holding it down making guys better?
the showtime lakers almost had the perfect offense for their personnel. but running like that wasnt perfect for a 7 foot guy. now granted he was a lean 7 footer so he could move. but it
wasnt PERFECT for him.
the triangle was great with the bulls and the lakers and at times it seemed unstoppable with those guys in it. but as great as it was for shaq, kobe couldnt maximize his ability to score while shaq also maximized his ability to score. one of them had to take a semi back seat at times. these gstate dudes can go all out in this offense at the same time. thats not normal at all.
