"in 3 to 4 years he may very well be big time"

so whats the problem?

Phil is going the San Antonio route and trying to build something here. SAS keeps barking up that tree begging for Phil to shyt on him. Then he'll cop pleas as always.

I swear I don't think Phil kept it funky with Melo on the direction of the team at least tell the dude it will be a few year rebuild...Porzingis may end up being nice if it's not for 3 season's does it really matter...Bargnani when taken into consideration is actually productive and you know he can produce on an NBA level so why take a chance on a rookie when you could of 1.traded down or 2.taken a player that had superstar potential at a need position (Mudiay)....Porzingis will be the 3rd string PF/SF...I doubt he even get's 12 mins a game unless the Knicks end up being blown out alot....

Maybe Melo may need to think about increasing his brand elsewhere....Would Lakers offer #2/Young/Cap space for Melo that would be a far easier sell to free agent's a team with Melo and Kobe than a team with Kobe a bunch of 19 year olds would be....And the Knicks would have a young player and kick start their rebuild the correct way even though they don't have their own pick....They could even go after young restricted free agent's like Tobias Harris.

Melo is one foot outside his prime, he's my dude but the draft is about the future. Let's see what free agency turns up for the here and now.

I just watched his highlights.. I only saw one big man move.. The rest were mostly oops, put back dunks and some pick and roll..

Basically this Porzingis looks like Tyson Chandler with a jumper without the "defense" that Tyson supposedly plays

perimeter guy?
what? he's gonna face up steph? lebron?
he is going to be an absolute LIABILITY on defense, combined with melos chubby ass who refuses to cross half court on d and does the caramel shuffle down the floor like he's been shot every time the other team starts running. No wonder Melo's been injured--Spurs changed the league when the beat the Heat in the finals, the 3 ball is here to stay and rather than going small, the Knicks made the absolute worst pick in the history of the NBA.

Let me ask you this: how is this guy gonna do anything against the Warriors? How's Melo gonna do anything against the Warriors?

40% of the Knicks starting 5 is not just worse than, but is an absolute liability in defending, ANYONE on GS.

So, straight away, you can throw next season in the trash for the Knicks, and likely the 2-3 seasons following that.

There's building for the future, and there's being behind the times.

Picking a guy who can't defend the post OR the perimeter, and won't be able to create his own shot when a f*cking 175 pound 3 could probably push him out to the perimeter based on BMI alone... and yep--knicks still suck.

:what: Nobody can stop lebron or steph anyway. It's a team game. You contain guys like that with team defense, and collectively, knicks aren't doing shyt anyway so yeah, you pick the best guy that's available because if you draft some overrated role player like a Winslow or somebody else it isn't going to change anything anyway.

He's a perimeter-oriented big that's just his skillset. Strength is overrated in basketball, and as a pro with the access to the best drugs on the planet you can easily fix that with about 6 months of dieting and lifting weights. Knicks made the right decision given what was available. I don't like EUro cacs but I have feeling this guy is going to be good. It's ironic you're saying they're being behind the times when the trend lately is to draft bigger guys that are very flexible and have diverse skillsets.

There is nobody the Knicks could've drafted that would've fixed any of the problems you're addressing so they made the right decision and picked a guy with tremendous upside over a bunch of protypical NBAers that are just gonna be role players anyway. This guy is either going to be a very dynamic player or he's gonna be trash. I respect the gamble.

Does anyone really think that Steven A Smith knows jack shyt about who this player is?:dahell:Besides hearing the name often, does anyone think he knew shyt about who Mudiay was? This is SAS performing his usual minstrel show, yelling for no reason and dragging on by using big words when he doesn't have to use big words. fukk that nikka.
