nobody really counts rings after retirement. Unless you are in the goat convo. Dirk and Paul Pierce are just a well respected as anybody, there aren't any champions considered underachievers.
the ring counting is only for the goat argument. If he wants to be considered the best PF of all time. he would need to win more. People give that title to Duncan because of how much he won.

This take also encourages players to team hop. instead of staying with the same franchise for their whole career.

Typical NFL off-season + lul of NBA Finals
SAS is campaigning for Giannis to request a trade to NY Knicks

Ignore it, so long as SAS can't vote for MVP, DPOY, All-NBA teams, Finals MVP, etc.....this a nothingburger

This is true but at the same time plenty of people said Shaq underachieved. It wasn't said in a demeaning manor but many people said he could have had more championships in his career...
Shaq was a consensus #1 pick and would come into camp out of shape and get surgery on company time. People saying he underachieved because he didn't take care of his body isn't a crazy take.
All it is.

Media, especially ESPN has been trying to speak Giannis out of Milwaukee into existence for years. Folks forget how ESPN ran a story immediately after they lost to Toronto in 2019 trying to plant seeds of Giannis wanting out
Ashley Nicole Moss has a career because she was talking about Giannis was going to Miami some years back.

When we're talking about career underachievers, how are we comparing guys like Giannis and Jokic to consensus #1 picks that before they stepped foot on an NBA court, people were talking about how great they could be. Giannis was a 15th pick. Jokic mid 2nd rounder. The career expectations are nowhere near the same.
