Oh yeah, and all that c00ning Stephen A did. And White people still want him to STFU. Interesting.....:mjpls:

They never forget the few times he'll choose to point out racism and discrimination. Plus they consider him a joke when he got punked out by Michelle Beadle over something that he never even said.

lol @ putting Deadspin as a website up there :mjlol:

Rome probably got that far because he is an a$$hole, a funny guy but White people absolutely hate the guy who likes to roast. I wish his show was on ESPN, it was so great.

Beadle/Clay Travis should have made it to far. Maybe next season

I don't get all the Bill Simmons hate. Dude was behind most of the great content espn had when he was there.
Dude is the ultimate "of the moment dikkriders" in sports media. Everything and everyone is the greatest (insert #) of the last (insert # of years). While his podcast is a guilty pleasure, some times it's too much. And God forbid you someone who's a rival of his teams or someone he just doesn't like, then he continues to go on and on and on about (see the Goodell shyt).

He's not qualified to do anything.
He's a glorified blogger who writes long weirdo articles integrating movie references and shyt.

This is a guy who couldn't even get a legitimate job at a newspaper and only got his ESPN gig because he harassed them for it.
He's literally a half-step from from the guy at your corner bar who rambles about the Mets every weekend.

His articles on Page 2 were corny and while Grantland was successful, it was successful because of the other writers.

This dude has less credibility than even Stephen A Smith.
Way less.
A glorified blogger doesn't end up being one of the main guys behind 30 for 30. Nice for you to leave that out of course.

Grantland and 30 for 30 are/were the best things on that network by far.

Again, he still produced the best content on ESPN. You guys have to stop paying so much attention to the personalities and look at the output.

Stephen A Smith doesn't even bother me that much because I don't pay much attention to him. Stephen A Smith produces no worthwhile content on that network so why should I bother with him? Simmons on the other hand was responsible for grantland which was great and was one of the cogs behind 30 for 30 which has produced some classic shyt and the upcoming OJ doc hitting ABC soon.

In my world you are judged by the output, not the personalities behind it. I don't care for his strong pro Boston slant on everything, but I can't deny the content. The sports documentaries on HBO are even going to get better with him which is great.

30 for 30 wasn't a groundbreaking idea. If it wasn't him, someone else would've came up with a documentary series. It's not like he came up with the actual content for the docs. There was probably numerous interns or low level guys who offered that idea numerous times and had it thrown out or overlooked because they didn't have any cache. If Simmons was brilliant he would have reinvented himself already. All this talk about HBO blah blah blah and you can only find him on iTunes or Instagram.

Grantland was decent because of a few writers (Jonathan Abrams really). Most of it was corny, wordy, hipster, contrarian crap. You couldn't pay me to find or read any of the full time writers that were on there now.

As far as this poll, I'd say Cowherd, Simmons, Beadle, Deadspin as a group are the most annoying. But they have next to no reach these days so they don't annoy me at all. Stephen A just has a bigger platform (and he's rich and black) so he was gonna win

You have to give credit to the one who created it, not on the possibility of someone else coming out with the series. It just doesn't work that way in the real world.

Simmons is in the process of creating a new podcast network, tv show, website and some documentaries for HBO. You think this happens overnight? He was the best thing ESPN had going for it, nobody on that network now is good at creating content.

Oh and Stephen A Smith won because he is annoying as fukk. He is on a show for 2 hours a day and is nothing worthwhile...it is telling that instead of throwing re-runs of 30 for 30 docs, now ESPN2 is a channel that airs First Take numerous times during the day because they have nothing worthwhile to show anymore.

You're absolutely right about how the credit should be given, but that doesn't mean I'm going to think he's a creative genius for it. He did what most rich guys do and bullied his way into it.

ESPN seems to be getting along just fine without him. Their biggest 30 for 30 is coming out soon and its ABC prime time. Simmons is already flaming out. The best Grantland podcast was Jalen and Jacoby hands down and they're still on ESPN.

Simmons on tv has already proven to be a disaster, so I'm not interested in seeing him on HBO. It'll be worse than Jim Lampley's show. HBO is known for great docs and Real Sports, so I don't see why they spent so much money signing him (aside from them losing their grasp on boxing and taking a shot in the dark).

People like First Take, idiotic or not, it's entertaining. Espn2 never had great content to begin with. It's better than the Strongman Competitions they used to show every night :mjlol:

I love how 30 for 30 wasn't a groundbreaking idea, yet it was the best thing ESPN has done in a very long time. Let's just discredit it because it was created by a guy who is a Tom Brady stan.

There is no reason that Jemele Hill should've been any where near number 1. Also, the white sports fans who hate Stephen A usually dislike him for a more nefarious reason than we do.
