Your whole argument keeps resting on what white people are doing.

Eminem is the white communities problem. Miley Cyrus is the white communities problem. If you cant see that todays INTENTIONALLY MANIPULATED hiphop is having a negative affect GLOBALLY on the black community, then i dont know what to tell u. You blame me of "twisting your words", well you're doing the same with me by suggesting that im saying rap is CAUSING ppl to sell drugs. Yes, ppl sold drugs b4 and will continue to do so after. But you're missing the big picture of what this hiphop culture is doing to us. You (along with many other posters) seem to be extremely shortsighted on the power of music period. These highly influential entertainers are promoting a destructive lifestyle to young, impressionable minds. And as you yourself acknowledge, this is all by design. And Your "Europeans are the biggest consumers of rap" argument is laughably irrelevant. This alone tells me how narrow-minded your thinking is.
The sad truth is that people like you with your mindset are aiding these Europeans in their continued assault on the black mans'image and keeping us in an ignorant mindstate. Open your eyes to the bigger picture.
Hol' up, so you actually believe we don't buy Em's music, even though he's
Dre's protégé and is doing
our music? Em himself knows better than that. You don't remember the line "if I was black, I would've sold half; I didn't have to graduate from high school to know that". Who do you think Dre was trying get to embrace Em by being the face of his music? You don't remember when Benzino tried to get us to divest from or boycott his music by exposing his lyrics calling us "n*ggers, porch monkeys, spear-chuckers, and moon-crickets"? You don't remember how it didn't work, how we accepted Em excuses that turned out to be
lies, how we defended him, and that we're still defending him today? Charlemagne defended Em just 2 years ago when Benzino came to the Breakfast Club by falsely accusing Benzino of "slandering" Em.
You don't think rappers like Rakim, Drake, and Lupé worshipping him by calling him the G.O.A.T. and best the out today is helping him maintain his Afrikan audience? You don't think him being one of the most respected emcees is helping him maintain his Afrikan audience? You think Miley imitating
our dances,
rapping, and having
rappers hasn't brought in Afrikan consumers? That's like saying Timberlake, who was
Pharrell and the Neptunes' protégé, had a huge song with the Clipse, and is now
Timbaland's protégé, doesn't have Afrikan fans or that Robin Thick, who also does
our music doesn't have Afrikan fans. I'm gonna need the date and time we divested from or boycotted their music.
@PhonZhi, glorifying the selling of drugs is
not hip-hop culture; it is
American culture, so you would do well to stop blaming
American rappers who are
products of that culture. Glorifying selling drugs
did not start with hip-hop and it won't end with it. It started in Hollywood and that's where it will end. And you sound like a hypocrite, as I would put money on the fact that you either pay
a fortune at the theater, buy the dvds, pay for cable, or watch basic tv of the very content you're condemning rappers for.
Their music is
not having the hypnotic affect on
our community that you're so paranoid about, as only
15% of us use drugs, Europeans sell more than we do, and we're not even the main ones buying the music.
Your claims of "destruction" from "making it look cool to kids" are false. If it's destroying anyone's community, it's the one you claim not to care about (Europeans).
No one is "aiding" Europeans in anything.
They are choosing, on their own, to demonize
everything we do, even our poverty.
It's called prejudice, and you clearly
don't understand how it works because you're so scared of our image in front of Europeans. Should we all become rich, in hopes that they will stop looking down on us as "lazy", "dumb", "welfare, section 8, and food stamp recipients"? If people look down on us for the very things they give others a pass for, they are
prejudiced. Why exactly should we care what prejudice people think?
Europeans don't assault our image more
because we glorify selling drugs.
We got that idea from them. We are a product of
their culture. They assault our image
because they are prejudice. Copying Hollywood
is just the excuse. Your language is also the excuse. Will you stop cursing?
The actual truth is, it is people like
you who aid their assault because
you have transferred the glorification of selling drugs from
American culture to hip-hop culture, and it is
you who condemns us for our imperfections — asserting that it's the
victims of prejudice who should change,
instead of condemning Europeans for their prejudice. If you think us becoming perfect is going to stop assaults on our image, stop
prejudiced people from demonizing us in the media, or stop any other mistreatment from
prejudiced people, then you are truly lost, need to educate yourself on how
prejudice works.
