Very believable. If their are ways to have bots that increase your #'s of followers on the gram or twitter. Why wouldn't there be the same for streams ?
True, some people were already using bots for their youtube videos few years ago

He shytting on streams and the new way they charting record but in reality that's going to be the wave making forward from now on. More streaming less actual buying of CDs.

1. Views is a very successful album. A lot of people are listening to it. He had the #1 song in the country for like ten weeks, and the album likely has 2-3 more top 10 hits
2. The streaming numbers are utterly insane to the point I don't believe them
Yes it's a huge album that has sold tons of records. But something is off, I agree with the article. Perception has always been dominant in the music business. Perception is why artists pretend to be single, or pretend to date other artists, or pay radio stations to play their record.
The question: who benefits? The obvious answer is Apple. They can acquire more exclusive album release weeks now that they can say "hey look what Drake did. Sure Spotify has the bigger audience but Drake's success proves an exclusive deal with us can be very lucrative."
