Explain?
American exceptionalism but Black
Explain?
All due respect, I have no clue what your point is with this post.I am not following that example to relate to Black folks and African folks.
I am both. Ya'll nikkas similar to Africans, just not atypical.
They mix with some tribes plus their own due to war, white folks, and other shyt while Black folks really really mixed due to slavery, Jim Crow, and modern James S. Crow, Esq.
Them nikkas wasn't dealing with ease in African in the last 400 years. It's been hell there as well. Leopold killed more people than Hitler but since they were Black, did you hear about it. Almost all of these African wars are funded and controlled by Europe. The Drug/Street war here, controlled by America. More Black folks are in jail than enslaved. Does that make sense to you?
To me, too many of us don't want to be honest why we got anna. That's why you got nikkas talking about we different when in reality, we similar. We different, for sure but similar. But yeah, I get it, but sometimes, it doesn't make sense.
If we are honest, it would make sense even if it's not gonna change. Just being honest would get real feelings and hurt out there.
American exceptionalism but Black
Which people are stopping you from identifying and distinguishing yourselves and how are they doing so?The push back comes because these people don't want to give Black Americans zero room to identify and distinguish ourselves.

It's late. I am about to sign-off shortly as well. All due respect, I have no clue what your point is with this post.
Could be because I’m tired. Clarify it for me, if you will and I might have a better grasp when I wake up tomorrow.
The basis of your post seems to be that Africans and African-descended people in the west have similar struggles and experiences.
Which is true, but that doesn’t mean that we are the exact same culturally.
Native Americans have dealt with racism and currently deal with gang violence. We aren’t the same as them culturally. Same with non-black Latinos.
Hell, China had an entire drug war with Great Britain and low key the Philippines is about to be America’s next big drug supplier.
Having similar struggles and experiences doesn’t mean you are the same culturally. Sorry.
I have NEVER seen anyone use the term, xenophobia against black folks unless they were being clearly xenophobic. It's odd that you would even give this as an answer. The people bytching and whining that we are xenophobic for claiming our own unique cultural identity.
Likewise.Personally, I admire Africans and their culture and am proud to say that I am a descendant of Africans.
Exactly. African Americans are a distinct ethnic group. Peoples and their cultures evolve and change. One of the driving forces of that change is the geographic environment. African Americans have a distinct history within the USA, so of course the resulting culture will be distinct. The same for say Jamaicans, Haitians, Afro-Brazilians etc.But at the same time, if black people in America want a distinct culture to identify with I don’t see why people are so butthurt about it.
Indeed. Afro-descendants of the Americas are a mix of West and Central African peoples, From Senegal, all the way along the Atlantic coast to Angola.Even if you take a DNA test, most of us can’t trace our origins back to one specific tribe so why is it somehow a bad thing for us to acknowledge we’ve created our own identity?
There we go. Genetic similarity doesn't mean cultural similarity.Mexicans who are recent immigrants or the children of immigrants will, for example, call themselves paisas.
The ones who were born here and have been here for decades will call themselves Chicanos or Tejanos.
They acknowledge their Mexican heritage but also understand that they aren’t the exact same as actual Mexicans.
I understand his sentimentThis gesture on Steve Harvey’s part comes off as contrived and forced.
Likewise.I don’t believe in bad mouthing Africans or stereotyping/demonizing them, though.
I don't see how you get that from all the positive things people have been writing itt, sounds like you don't know much about Pan-Africanism and are resentful of your relation to how others see Black people worldwide. This is what it boils down too you want us to denounce our American identity and claim some generic "African" identity.
We aren't one big nikka and that's ok. What the hell does have to do with American exceptionalism? Back the fukk up and get off our nuts. DamnAmerican exceptionalism but Black
This has been repeated throughout the thread and literally no one is saying this.Yet, just because we descend from certain peoples, doesn't mean we're the same culturally
What it really is, Is that black American culture has become the default “black” culture, and so many people like to dip in and out of it, both taking part in their actual culture (Haitian, Senegalese, etc) but also being able to dip into ours for resources, social advantages, and educational boosts (applying for grants and scholarships literally created for black Americans).American exceptionalism but Black
How would you respond to this?We aren't one big nikka and that's ok. What the hell does have to do with American exceptionalism? Back the fukk up and get off our nuts. Damn
