I like to bold shyt because we need to get to the meat and potatoes of the shyt. So let's do itWhat it really is, Is that black American culture has become the default “black” culture, and so many people like to dip in and out of it, both taking part in their actual culture (Haitian, Senegalese, etc) but also being able to dip into ours for resources, social advantages, and educational boosts (applying for grants and scholarships literally created for black Americans).
It’s the ability to double dip culturally, all the time. So much so that taking ownership, and taking pride in OUR culture, is seen as xenophobia and hatred.
But these people would never allow the inverse. A black American moving to Nigeria, and taking part in its politics, speaking down or patronizing to native born Nigerians would be received very poorly.
But becuase we have owned blackness, pushed it, molded it, become the face of it, and we are the only true “black culture” any gate keeping is a xenophobic attack.
There is no other black culture besides black American culture because no other culture is designed around blackness except for ours. A part of that is being the minority population in a place where you are constantly othered and having to build through that oppression. The other part of it is that most of the other black countries identify with nationality before race, which is why You have Chinese-Jamaicans and Indian-Trinidadians, who both take pride in Jamaican culture
But there are not Chinese-Black Americans, there is just us. And for that reason we are the only true black culture.
And taking that culture away from people (even though they had no part in its cultivation) is hurtful. But necessary.
Delineation is not hate, it’s just what’s needed.
This always gets me because it doesn't make sense.
Explain default black culture. Seems you are saying Black American culture is the standard but I need this explained to me because a constant complaint from FBAs in particular is that (Africans and Caribeans say we have no culture.)
so many people like to dip in and out of it, both taking part in their actual culture (Haitian, Senegalese, etc) but also being able to dip into ours for resources, social advantages, and educational boosts (applying for grants and scholarships literally created for black Americans).
Are they dipping into Black folks' resources or are they dipping into AMERICA'S resources?
Social advantages? Explain?
Educational boosts? Explain? Because I can say, it's not even legal to have Black American-based grants and scholarships unless it's from a legal dispute. That's what reparations are all about. The legal claim is that these specific people were targeted for this or that reason and it impacted them for this and that reason and we are willing to pay an amount of currency for our wrongdoings. As the law states, I don't see any educational or social boosts they are getting from Black folks. If anything, the association has put them further behind other immigrant groups entering the United States.
I don't believe what you consider to be double dipping to be anything more than twisted fantasy or frustration with the white supremacist of America who as Neely Fuller states, are the most powerful people in this world. It’s the ability to double dip culturally, all the time. So much so that taking ownership, and taking pride in OUR culture, is seen as xenophobia and hatred.
I also don't believe anyone would see black folks who have always taken pride in Black history and roots as xenophobia or hatred. It's odd that you would state this.
But these people would never allow the inverse. A black American moving to Nigeria, and taking part in its politics, speaking down or patronizing to native born Nigerians would be received very poorly.
I don't find this to be a true statement. I think that's received very poorly anywhere including in America. People don't like to be talked about, especially by an assumed outsider (cultural, religious, gender, or creed).
But becuase we have owned blackness, pushed it, molded it, become the face of it, and we are the only true “black culture” any gate keeping is a xenophobic attack.
Once again, it is NOT xenophobic to have pride or belief in yourself, your community, your family, or your collective group.
I have no clue what you said or are even talking aboutThere is no other black culture besides black American culture because no other culture is designed around blackness except for ours.
You technically do have this and recently, I have seen people like Tariq try to broadcast this as well. I think what you are trying to say is white people see us all as nikkas, so we nikkas. I get that but it's odd when we all nikkas till we not nikkas? Are we all nikkas or are we not all nikkas?
And taking that culture away from people (even though they had no part in its cultivation) is hurtful. But necessary.
Delineation is not hate, it’s just what’s needed.
That's odd because Carribean and Africans have been coming to this country willingly for over 100 hundred years. They definitely have a claim to the cultivation of America. Maybe you just don't know your own history. I think the biggest issue you have, is with you as a person.
