Adelman worked his way up. My point was that you don't go straight from playing to coaching unless you were respected as a player and guys followed you.
This makes no sense since for God knows how long, even the bolded meant absolutely nothing when it came to getting a head coaching gig.

Guys respect Kerr. He likely won't get the job unless key players on the team are on board with it

and Kerr hasn't played in 10 years. There's a generation of kids that only know Kerr from hitting a game winning shot in the Finals and through his announcing. I'm sure he's amassed a ton of respect in that time. If the Knicks wanna do that, then it's on them. I wouldn't endorse it, but I wouldn't endorse Phil as a 68 year old rookie executive either.

You think it's easy getting millionaires to follow you? Look at what J.R Smith has become because he refuses to follow his coaches. That nikka is an untamed gorilla.

There isnt a lot of actual coaching going on in the league right now. Thibs gets credit because he has a shytty team and they play defense....something you're supposed to do anyway.

Is Scott Brooks a good coach? I have no idea honestly...give him a shytty team and they probably still suck. Just not a whole lot of variety in the league.

You can say this about even established coaches with track records. It's gonna be hard for anyone to get respect in that Knick locker room because they'd all rather have Phil coaching. Spoelstra and SVG had that same dilemma under Pat Riley and eventually players came around. Whether it happens for Kerr or not I don't know, but either way the Knick team he might inherit will look completely different in a year or two anyway.

You first, I posted the proof that he went to Utah and had nikkas following him and not Stockton and Malone. nikka was a leader on the Knicks as a rookie.
So destroying a locker room that had been humming along for nearly two decades is something to brag about? :mjlol:

Isn't that how a GM's moves are deemed successful?

Zeke was a great drafter. Awful at trades and signings.
So you think he deserves all the hate? He was a lot better than people make him out to be, there have been much much worse GM's. Like... Dolan

Three members of the Jazz organization now understand why Jackson has been traded seven times in his 16-year career: They say that over a period of weeks, he succeeded in turning several teammates against Stockton by repeatedly remarking that those players would be better off if Jackson were the Jazz’s floor leader. Other players* rallied around Stockton, who, because of his quiet nature, was vulnerable to the locker room politicking. The rift on the Jazz was mended, though not before Stockton’s pride had been wounded. “There was no question it hurt John, because you could see him withdraw,” says a high-ranking team official. “But he’ll never talk about it, just as he won’t talk about injuries, because then he feels like he’s making excuses for himself.”

During his second season, Amaechi became a member of rebellious clique that also included Mark Jackson and DeShawn Stevenson.* They all were unhappy with the roles, and their discontent fractured a locker room that John Stockton and Karl Malone had run relatively smoothly for 15 years. Although Stockton never said anything to me, others insist that the off-the-court turmoil contributed to his decision to retire after the Jazz were eliminated from the 2003 playoffs.”

Jackson says his actions were in no way aimed at Stockton. “I’m a born leader, and if people take that as manipulation, then maybe they haven’t been around leaders,” he says. “I make no apologies for embracing people and talking to people and making them feel like they’re important. Maybe in the past those stray dogs have been left on the side, but that’s not the way I treat people.”

shyt like this is why the owners of Warriors are probably tired of his shyt.
