Exactly. But tbh i don't see how it could've ended smoothly. Smitty seem like one of them nikkas that takes any and everything personal. So not sure what the folks in charge coulda done to make his exit better.There wasn't many other reasons I could think of why the best receiver in your franchise's history could be released
I see Carolina's FO logic between why they picked who they did....a transcendent young QB who seemingly could only mature through sole leadership or an older great receiver guy who they deemed a nuisance
They handled it very poorly and it doesn't sound like he was given too many chances to change and give the reigns up, but I gotta think Smitty himself knew that he should've gave Cam some more control
Dude was 34, with a bad knee, was beefing with his young QB, and had a year left on his deal. I thought we shoulda traded him if anything, but i understood why we let him roll.
