You could tell how he was walking around on the sideline. Looked like he was laboring just to get from midfield to the 40. Hate that sonofabytch but respected the hell outta him

the 2010-2013 gamecock teams were very good, but during that time the program got lazy and it starts at the top. once shaw, lattimore, jeffery, clowney, ingram, swearinger were all gone they didnt have the talent ready to step into those roles. spurrier's arrogance and laziness made him believe that he didnt have to work hard to replace those guys or do things different once they were gone and we saw the result starting last season when a&m destroyed sc in the opener at home.

finished in the top 10 three straight seasons and didnt capitalize on it by recruiting the kind of difference makers needed to stay at that level or breakthrough and win the sec. after last year there were rumors he was going to quit but his son talked him into coming back. before signing day he made a 2-3 more years comment that sabotaged recruiting even further than the 7-6 record last season. he hired jon hoke to take over the defense and during the offseason he seemed defiant that the team would improve greatly. when it didnt it probably became clear to him that hes fighting a losing battle. he's 70, he wouldnt be able to attract the talent needed to turn it around or hire the assistants to turn it around. on top of that he seems to have lost the team.

he had a good 4 year run at sc, but with him as captain the ship wasnt sinking it had already sunk and he realized that.

well said. you think his son will be hired as HC permanently? hope not. his playcalling always seemed suspect. Gamecocks need someone fresh. A real upstart.
