Of course it does. Stimulus checks would be going to millions who don’t need them, in addition to those who do. Unemployment is an urgently needed form of assistance for people who have no jobs in an economic environment fraught with uncertainty because of the pandemic. To risk the failed passage of a bill assisting the unemployed because of a preoccupation with stimulus checks makes the progressive caucus look like a bunch of shortsighted a$$holes who’re posturing.

I still have my job but I’ve had to stay home from work multiple times over the past few months due to job sites being shut down due to covid. I didn’t get paid those days. There are plenty of people like me. Luckily my funds are alright so I didn’t suffer much but do people in my situation not deserve checks? UI and checks need to be passed. I already don’t get hazard pay. I want the fukking check. Period

That's been my biggest issue with this shyt. The underemployed have been forgotten about. Hell a lot of them are making less than people on unemployment which is crazy as hell.

I'm one of 2 male RNs that work the er in my hospital so I'm good with hours thankfully but I have family that work in plants and they'll work for a while with cut hours and then be laid off a week or 2...shyt makes me feel for em something serious.

I think this is a bigger point here. There should have always been a better system in place to support underemployed workers affected by the pandemic.

Let's say you work at a restaurant/bar and it shuts down due to Covid for a few days. People end up being sol.
