ultimately you're right but i don't think it's that serious. people are just commenting on the irony and absurdity.

same way people were commenting when kanye was selling 200$ white Ts, same way people commented on the chrysler 300c, same way they commented on the floyd-pac payperview prices, or how apple keeps selling the same phone. it's just talk and jokes (which is what messageboards are used for a lot of times). not that serious.
it is that serious, people have been very serious with their indignation at tidal
it'd be fine if it was just jokes or idle talk, but a lot of posts in tidal threads are like "how dare he! 19.99!! fukk tidal! fukk jayz!:angry:" :skip:

if some people are taking it like that then yeah, they need to bring it down a little (for their own health and sanity). i'm not mad at it. but by the same token, the stans need to chill on their dikkriding too. but we both know "haters are always gon hate and stans gon' stan". nothing will ever change that.

The Jay Z haters are constantly finding something to use against Jigga. You can tell these dudes ain't amount to anything and are using this as an outlet for their frustrations lol.

i agree to a certain point but......
they this was marketed/rolled out, it seems pretty obvious that they were expecting more.

also, i feel like it's going to get to a point that Jay, one of the richest rappers ever is going to guilt people into getting Tidal in some sort of fashion.

the point is that you don't have to do anything though
there is no mandatory tidal draft lol
if people don't want to buy it, they don't have to
it comes off as a little :mjpls: when people go out of their way to tear at his business decisions (especially if they were never considering a streaming service in the first place or really interested in finance or business at all)
I didn't give a shyt about Tidal until I saw a bunch of rap fans collectively shyt on it :manny:

then don't buy it
I don't understand the point of attaching this narrative for a product that you don't want
if a pair of shoes costs 200 at one store, and 300 at the other one, I'm not going to have a personal issue with the store with the huge mark up, I'm just not going to buy the shoes from there
if the stores multi millionair owner would try to shame me into buying the shoes for 300 dollars by making this a "support black businesses" thing i would rightfully clown him. and if he had the audacity to compare himself to mike brown and other dead victims of white supremacy i'd tell him :camby::ufdup: too :manny:

Jay-Z put himself in front of a service that's creating a paywall (monthly subscription) and silo (exclusive videos/music) in front of things that have generally become free (free streaming on spotify/all videos on youtube).

If he wants to become the new record company (streaming distribution is the new record distribution), he'll have to deal with the same public backlash that the RIAA got during the Napster days when they tried to shut it down.

I wonder if at this point he should distance himself as the Public Figure for Tidal. He played his brand as if this was the late 90s and he could just mention something and it'll get hot (Belvedere/Roc-A-Wear/etc.) ... but I'm not sure he's held in that same regard today and even less so with the younger tech influential crowd.

Him being rich is an issue. One of the main aspects of Tidal's marketing plan was the promise to give artists more money, Jay-Z being the front man for those artists.

The average Joe is not gonna pay more in order to give more money to millionnaires. It's not going to work.

I'll switch when they up their game and offer something better than spotify does. I'm not putting my happiness on the back burner for anybody else. I love having all the music that spotify offers, why would I put that on hold for a group collective/to blindly follow someone else?

There's no sense in supporting what they *could* do until they actually *do* it.
