Camp Lo made the original song. Then Ski hit them up a couple of days later telling them how he was casually playing it for Jay and he loved it. Jay wanted it for Reasonable Doubt, but Ski wanted to check with Camp Lo to see if he could have it. They said they loved Feelin It, but felt that it wasn't really a fit for their album so they gave the ok for Jay use it.
Yup. And I believe Luchini was originally made for Jay, but IIRC Jay either passed on it or Camp Lo told Ski ":gucci:We already gave your boy Feelin' It, this is for us."

EDIT: It's a combo of both sorta lol. Jay wanted the beat but since he already took Feelin It from them he turned it down cuz he didn't want to look greedy :mjlol:

Easy Mo Bee said he made the "Warning" beat strictly for Kane in '94 and Kane said "next".

And yeah it was a fumble but TBH... this is '94 Kane we're talkin' about. Even if he had taken it, it'd ended up sittin' on an album most of us ain't given one listen to :mjlol: This ain't prime Kane, this is him on his last leg making terrible singles nshyt. So ay, good for the beat and Mo Bee! :russ:

There's prolly a gang of incredible beats that somebody coulda picked and made a classic with that are instead on half-ass albums.
It's wild that Kane was washed up and he was only in his mid-20's then. How could he be so out of touch with what was going on :why:

Back then, rap moved so fast, you could go from being a star to irrelevant by your third album. Advancements were being made all the time with rhyme styles and production and you really had to pay attention to everything going on if you didn't want to get left behind. Even if you did, fans usually stopped listening to you at that point and moved on to newer rappers.

Kane started falling off on his third album and he admitted that he just started making music for the sake of fulfilling his contract. He also didn't realize until it was too late that he was still rapping ahead of the beat in '92/'93, when rappers weren't making songs with fast tempos anymore and they were rapping behind the beat.

Funny thing is when Kane heard what Biggie did on "Warning," he told Mo Bee that wasn't the beat he played him. :mjlol:

Camp Lo said Jay offered them 7k for Luchini, and they told him to scram :camby:

Jay already took Feelin It and Politics As Usual from them, he wanted all their beats :mjlol:

Biggie was begging Ski for Luchini too :russ:

Not a single, but I remember reading one of the beats on Pete Rock + CL Smooth's Main ingredient album (In the flesh i think) was turned down by Biggie (or maybe another rapper) before they put it on their own album.

Some random ones below:

1) Not necessarily a passed on situation, but before Mystikal turned out to be a sex offender, his label had Lil Jon produce some beats for him. One of those he passed on was Freek-a-Leek. Ironically, Petey Pablo took Freek-a-Leek away from Usher, which was later reworked to Yeah.

2) Shawnna passed on Gold Digger

3) Clipse stole Wamp Wamp from Foxy Brown

4) Bring em Out was originally meant for Beanie Sigel

5) Busta Rhymes took Touch It away from Eve

6) Yung Joc passed on Blue Magic
beanie passed on this too

Not necessarily someone passing on a beat, but supposedly Biggie's beef with Tha Dogg Pound in 95 stemmed from them taking the DJ Pooh beat given to Biggie for a St. Ides commercial and turning it into a hit song about NYC.

The craziest thing about this video is that Halle Berry is dancing in it at the end
