"Stakes is High" wasn't meant for De La Soul. Q-Tip had a bunch of Dilla beats that he was playing for Posdunos one day, and one of them was what ended up being "Stakes is High." Pos lied and told Q-Tip the beat wasn't that good, so he started playing other beats. Pos got on the phone, called Trugoy and told him that they needed to get that beat.

Nas passing on Many Men is the greatest skip/accidental assist ever…Nas is TBE but he woulda turned that shh into some mixtape, philosophical type jawn, I can tell…50 worked magic on that jawn and made it what it is.

I don't know...I understand what you're saying...but Stillmatic/God's Son Nas on a beat that puts you in a dark and hot room...that's a big What If.

nah, i'm one of the biggest Nas stans and even I know that that beat was TAILOR MADE FOR 50. Ain't nobody else would've done something as classic as Many Men, not ONE RAPPER at that time. Would've def gotten lost in the mix.

A lot of the time these beats go to the RIGHT rapper cuz most of the time, they wouldn't be the song that they're known for today. Makes you wonder what beats or songs we over look and if it would've gone to another rapper, what could've been. Like i know for a fact if Illmatic Nas would've gotten the "93 till infinity" it would've been a wayyy better joint, them Souls of Mischief dudes weren't really saying much and nobody even cares to check for them outside that joint. Another beat i think was misplaced was Llyod banks "I'm so fly", that was a TOP TIER Timbaland beat that deserved to be a HIT and if it would've gone to 50 or Nelly, it would've been HUGE! sh*t, i can see Fab doing better on it as well.

There's a big gap between "as classic as Many Men" and "lost in the mix".

Disagree.
