So as someone who never play SF seriously, will V be a solid game to get into just starting out? Is the game welcoming to new players?

I think V will be a good starting point for somebody who hasn't played SF in a long time. They took out a lot of things that made IV a lil bit harder like FADCs and 1-frame links, but replaced 'em with a more streamlined versions of those.

If you know the basics of fighting games, you should be good to go in V

Yep, also back dashes not being invincible is gonna be big as well.

I don't know why, but I kinda feel like FADCs are still in the game to a degree with V-Trigger. I haven't played enough to get a read on them, but it feels like their a good way to extend combos and make unsafe shyt a lil bit safer for certain characters.

In a way but the lack of invincibility on them not to mention some of them being moves (Vega, Rashid) and not just static buffs (Ryu, Laura) means its not universal.

I rock fighting games in a strictly casual manner. But I've always been interested in this ish...So just a couple of generic questions:
1. How much time/practice you putting in to compete with legit cats?
2. How much of practice it is training mode or one player modes versus just playing online matches and practicing ish there?
3. How much frustration would I deal with before I get to a level where I'm smacking dudes? I lose patience easily these days and could see myself losing it at cats spamming attacks and beating me.

in all honestly, SF is a game that takes YEARS to get good at, seriously..MOST people will never be "TOP 8" at evo good, it's just not going to happen lol..but with hard work and some years under your belt, it's not impossible to become a 3k-4k player..it's all about how devoted you are to your craft and how much time you are willing to spend improving..

I can tell you now that sf5 will piss off more people than sf4 ever did....no more ex meter which means those players that like to spam DP will pay for it majorly if it doesn't connect. No more FA's which means you are going to have to coordinate your combo's to get the most effective punishments, and now parrying has been brought back which means you won't be able to throw out random ultra's anymore without having to pay for it....I'm going to miss sf4 but I'm glad that we'll have another 7-8 years with 5, i predict in 2 years, the sf5 EVO tournaments are going to be insane

There's alot of shyt nikkas gon have to unlearn from SFIV...

No FADC, i cant recall any plinking, Normals have more priority, target combos are a bigger deal...etc.

Certain shyt will never change like cross-ups...but SFV already feels VERY different from IV. Even for just shyt like the V system and crush counters.

cosign this whole post like u got to be fundmentaly sound like any video game and practicularly fighting games and a fighting game like street fighter u have to be fundamentaly sound

like u got to be good with hit confirms anti airing footsies punishes defense frame traps block strings and walking foward to gain ground.

The 8-4 and fiery moats
I never took SF serious in the past. I just played it casually. This will change with SF5. Got my ass kicked enough in the beta to make me see some of my weaknesses, and those adjustments helped me a lot this weekend :blessed:

I'll be playing the hell out of this when it drops. Willing play with yall too. I know some of yall are really good judging from this thread and previous ones. I just wish all you all would duke it out already instead of saying who is trash :russ:

1. well i since i don't work i can practice all day but i don't i put in like 12-15 hours per day but it's not continuous it's like i take breaks here and there

2. training mode and online i use both to practice i use training mode to see if it will work or not and then try to apply it to a actual match pefer offline if anything

3. well if u are decent u going to win here and there but if run up against somebody who are light years of ahead of you u going to get torn a newa$$hole alot before u get better
and once u get better it will probably be the other way around or even
