TYRONE GA!
I agree with this

Nintendo was stuck in there own way's which is like there gift and curse, because of that we got the psx. Sony wasn't very publisher friendly at the start however, they were firmly against rpgs in the west because they didn't feel like the audience wanted them.... Until FF7 came through and crushed the buildings. After than it was open arms to rpg's and that's why you see a sudden influx of rgps after FF7

what I meant by publisher friendly was being the anti-Nintendo as far as dictating terms, lower royalties, cheaper media and costs.

The FF7 thing was great

Well, Ionno if I'd just say it was a Sony thing regarding the rpg status before FF7. That was RPGs in general. There were tons of RPGs before then during the SNES stage that never made it stateside either. Hell, look at the Seiken Densetsu (Secret of Mana) series back then. We got like one of them, the rest were just in Japan. It was a business sense move cuz RPGs took a lot to localize and weren't really that hot (from a sells point) over here, so that's why it was what it was then. FF7 changed A LOT of american's perspectives of RPGs though. It really opened a lot of eyes and broke down walls.

Yeah, if anything, Sony was more publisher friendly than Ninty was for sure.

Indeed, but we still got lots of rpg's on both snes and genesis.

I remember reading that quote from a sony rep in a mag, and I was heated after reading that, it made sense, since we only had like Wild arms 1 and 2 up until that point. But yeah FF7 made the world take note.

maybe sony will announce that remake this weekend :banderas:

True. Though all made their 3d debuts on playstation and is also what pushed each series thru the stratosphere. Playstation didn't invent them, they did play a serious part in their reinvention and pioneering status though. This is pretty much undeniable. They owe each other their successes ultimately.

Tomb raider made its HD debut on Xbox. Yet that didn't stop the rage from Sony fans or accusations of unfair money hats.

Final fantasy 7 was Exclsuive to playstation. So you mean to tell me they made it through 6 games, but it was the 7th game was the one that put them on the map:stopitslime:

I'll give you metal gear, but even after it went multiplat, Sony started money hating games, and we heard not a peep from the Stans.

If you notice when Sony uses this practice we get justifications for why its ok. Microsoft does it and they are hurting gamers.

It would be like if your girl told you she's not fukking with you no more and she's dumping you for your rival then 6 months later she shows back up at your door like "I'm back." Come to find out she was only messing with him cause he was giving her money. You gonna take her back? The average video game consumer does the equivalent of that.

These companies have no integrity. They'll look a loyal customer in the eyes and tell him some purposely misleading BS and on the back end when that is exposed to be the lie we all knew it was still be looking to get that customer's money.

That Tomb Raider fiasco was straight disgusting. Dude knew the game wasn't really exclusive and danced around the issue and forced the developers to do the same just so they could sell a lie to people.
