Documentary is really really dope

Jay-Z, Nas, Fat Joe, Busta Rhymes, Q-Tip, Rosie Perez, Lord Finesse, DJ Clark Kent, Large Professor, OC, Pharoahe Monch and others I'm forgetting all make appearances throughout it.

Jay listening to his and Big L freestyle, Nas listening to his Stretch and Bobbito "freestyle" and Fat Joe listening to Pun's was so dope.

Just as it was just getting good

Went to the premier in Philly on Wednesday and the movie is excellent. I grew up in Boston not having access to the show as a kid but hearing the stories and the records took me back to being a kid and then eventually getting into 88.9 (Boston college radio) for the same reasons they did their thing.

I think Bobbito hit an interesting point in regards to early 90's Hip Hop. 90 to 92 hardly ever gets appreciation for having a balance of up tempo beats that's danceable for the club's back then and lyrics that still had a lil substance to them. I started listening to Stretch and Bob in early 92 and by late 93, you started hearing the tempo change and more of a distinction between what's nowadays considered underground or commercial. In 90/91, it was all on even playing field. By 96/97, it was definitely a clear divide.

His opinion is heavily biased. Sounds like he totally disregarded west coast hip hop, but its whatever that's him
