Agree with Op. I'm taking what he's saying as not just the beat, but the actual sound quality and the mixes. I think 2000s was just the period where the budgets were still big enough and producers had progressed enough where you had A-list guys putting out work and then it's mixed by A-list engineers in A-list level studios on A-list level equipment.

Nowadays budgets shrunk so much most people don't even work on them big boards you used to see in old studio pictures, dudes using a MacBook and some plugins even 14 year olds is pirating in they bedroom.

Shawty Redd, Zaytoven, DJ Paul and Juicy J (their 2000's sound was different from their 90's sound), a million other nikkas. Your opinion is not definitive, no one cares if you only like east coast beats
:mjlol:
You gotta be kidding right?
And who said I only like east coast beats? :ohhh:

90s. 2000s had dudes still learning how to make beats without samples. That early casio fischer price swizz beats sounds was trash. Dudes nowadays finally got it down but now barely sample at all...

Sample hip hop is still the apex which rza havoc dre premo and the rest really had down by 95. Just and kanye continued in the 2000s but i atill think the mid 90s hip hop aound was the best

let me re-do my ranking.
2 & 3 are gonna keep changing.

1. '80s
2. '90s
3. 2010s
4. 2000s

I sometimes get caught up in the moment when I hear some hot new chit. that's why I had the 2010s at #2 yesterday.

regardless, the '90s had the better producers. but the 2010s churns out great beats from the most random of people like its nothing.

Post examples of those miss records.:dame:

dog. they blew up droppin mostly trash and were hated for it, for a good while.

they killed careers with those trash beats too:
tha alkoholiks were instantly finished when they did that neptunes video.
T.I. 1st album flopped with that neptunes song.

I think if you gather the best production from the 90s, 00s, and 10s, you'll see that production improved with technology. All depends on your taste. Some folks like the production of the 90s. I do agree with you OP but that's my taste. I didnt mind the snap beats. Dem Franchise Boys production still makes me wanna lean with it.

I was just listening to Hood Hop the other day too. Not the album, the Hood Hop track. I think that beat is nasty.

My favorite 90s production is either Badu's first joint or ATLiens.

Breh, because of your recommendation I started listening to the Erika Badu album.

I Just want to say thanks breh. This album is amazing. :salute:

I'm only 18 minutes in, and I already know I'm going to be listening to this album for a long time to come :ahh:
