It's amazing how much the costs of school skyrocketed over only a few years and it's pretty sickening to think of the older generation essentially enslaving their children to debt. There's no reason school should be that expensive, and the sad thing is that you aren't even guaranteed a job afterwards... and you might only get one paying $50,000 at that to start off.

Breh, for real. 90% of the brothers and sisters I talk to be like ":childplease:I ain't paying that shyt back". Credit fukked up, debt piling up. They will die with six figure debt. My sister was just on the Dave Ramsey show last month, paid off a $93k mortgage in less than 4 yrs making $40k income. But she was determined. She's 41 and completely debt free. Dave said there's no reason she shouldn't retire a millionaire.

This thread has inspired me to really turn it up on paying this shyt back. No vacations, no football games this fall:to:,no lifestyle upgrades whatsoever. Beans and rice for the next 5-7 years
How did she do that?
Did she even make 93k in 4 years :dwillhuh:

I actually had scholarships at most of the schools I applied to for undergrad but went to Wharton. Really didn't have a choice.......I got into Wharton so I had to go.

Good decision. Ivy League Schools give you the best return on investments.

School is expensive because everyone is going and borrowing to do so. Basic principles of supply and demand. Plus More students equal more money needed to support those students, maintain infrastructure, offer new technologies, salaries, books, and other services.

Damn breh.. if y'all ever get divorced you can't lose :jawalrus:

But why is she only paying 3k a month if she makes more then that a year wtf?! Pay that shyt off in 3 years! What she spending the rest of that money on wtf?!
We could pay more but we just bought a house and had a baby. Paying off a crib in 15 years and saving for the kids college fund and our retirement. Plus she's applying for federal research grants that might knock a chunk of the principal off.

That's the crazy thing. Nothing is guaranteed!

Medical school graduates have the greatest probability of landing the job to service the debt. Class sizes are controlled in medical schools, so supply/demand is isn't the same as for law school, business school, etc. graduates.

For undergraduates, the probabilities are even lower. Add race into the mix and the probabilities are even lower for Black graduates. Yet, we are taking on the most debt.

Plus you're not guaranteed to like the job, even if it's high paying. At least the high school graduate who went into retail management after school can move to something else without the fear of student loan debt holding him back. It's all bullshyt.

Yeah. A lot of people are in careers they absolutely hate. But, that high salary is needed to pay off that debt and keep up a facade.

The problem is, when you hate what you do, you'll never be your best at it.

Wife was sitting on $240K as of last year, for med + business school. She rich and makes more than that a year so it was worth it. Pays like $3K a month. Hoping to knock it out completely in 10 years.

I'm have $2K left on mine, looking at her like :mjpls:
this logic :dead:

Sometimes, I think we forget that people have other debts in addition to student loans. That's what makes it so difficult to pay back.

She could have credit card debt as well. Maybe a car loan, too.
That's their fault though.. people living way beyond their means. If she's making well above how much she owes per year in student loans, they could live frugal for a year or two and have it paid off. Let's say his wife is making 400k a year.. what in the hell are you spending that you only put down 3k a month towards paying off a 7 digit student loan for?!

They probably living in a big ass mansion, driving expensive ass cars, eating out all the time, going on vacations several times a year etc.
